I Love watching fire fighter videos because it reminds me of my Dad in his younger years as a proffessional firefighter and all the great things he and his comrades Did and the Risks They had to go through doing their best to protect save lives and properties in their Choosen Occupation, i Love you and very proud of you Dad, I Miss you A Lot, RIP !!! I LOVE ALL FIREFIGHTERS !!!

I lived a couple miles up the road in Pawtucket and took a nap that afternoon. When I woke up I saw the coverage on the NBC Nightly News (national broadcast). I was like WHAT?! Slept right through it like an idiot.

That wind was howling. It's a miracle it didn't take more homes a distance away.

I really feel for the firefighters fighting this monster and not being able to stop it sooner. They had one hell of a battle.

If anyone thinks fighting fire is easy, show them this video. These Firefighters are going to be really tired after this. After the fire's out then the real work starts. Overhaul alone is going to be time consuming and hard work and then there is repacking the equipment. Good job on the video, Sparky.

Century old structure, Wind driven fire it most likely went up quick. If one takes note of the older commercial and industrial structures as well as some of the older residential structures they is a direct correlation between the intensity of the fires and the age of the structures. The reason for this is different from new construction. In new construction the materials are more to blame for the hotter more intense fires. In older structures the biggest factor is the dryness of the organic building materials combined with the lack of understanding about fire behaviour back in the day this understanding was much more rudimentary. I do not bash those involved either the firefighters nor the builders from 100 years ago.

It was a miracle the wind wasn't blowing the other way. They would have lost the neighborhood.

This reminds me of when old lady leary lit the lantern in the shed and the cow kicked it over and burned the whole town of Chicago down. Wow!

I remember this fire. I had a shop in Seekonk, MA a few miles away. I remember seeing the smoke and thinking it was a strip mall a mile away... The fire was actually a few miles away but the smoke was so heavy and thick it looked like it was closer! What a day that was

I remember being at that fire. Including propane tanks exploding and tanks flying into some of the houses. 40mph winds were blowing embers to houses as far as 2 blocks away. There was an entire neighborhood on fire. Embers we’re starting fires on rooftops. They said it was started in the brick multiple floor vacant building being renovated. A welders torch in the old building started the fire last I heard.

A type of fire that is burning 12 houses and a commercial building you need to start downwind before it gets spread to other houses I'm sure you've seen forest fires like in California last year with the Santa Ana winds I've been through them fires but I live in Iowa now you need to start downwind and put them out towards upwind

Sometimes the mills owned the housing that they rented to the employees. Back in the era when employees walked to work, close housing was sought.

There's another one at 8:50... runs out then changes its mind and runs back under the hedge. Finally makes a break for it at 9:02. Poor guys... nothing scares a cat worse than chaos, and they were getting a sh*t load of mayhem on that day.
