This is why I respect reviewers like this. No one's attacking collectors personally and no collector should take every review that way. Collect what you like and if it's giving you joy (and you're still safe and secure) enjoy your purchase! Being critical helps people make decisions and if the negatives don't out way your pros then nothing should stop you from getting what you like. Pick and choose make your own decisions. Don't shoot the messengers.
Monsterarts isn't bad in my POV, but it's so damn expensive that Hiya being the budget alt over it gives it a massive edge (not including the small figure Bandai ones)
When I was a kid, the ONLY Godzilla I had available was the old Aurora model kit. The fact there are a zillion choices now? It's PURE GRAVY top to bottom! Being a Godzilla fan gets better every year!
I fully agree with this. There’s a big difference between “this is a bad product” and saying “you should feel bad for buying this product”. Some of us have been invested in a line for *years* or some of us like certain figures in certain lines be it the scale, engineering or just the stylized aesthetic. I think the mentality of “you should not buy X this and buy Y” or I want “X to fail so Y can do it instead” is incredibly toxic. It removes options from the market and isolates people from collecting. There’s *no reason* to be so overzealous about freaking toys. Competition is a *good* thing. If something feels like it’s overpriced, don’t buy it,wait for it to be on sale or wait for an alternative. If you prefer one thing over another that’s great. But don’t berate someone for choosing the other option(s). At the end of the day they’re toys. They’re *just* toys. Let people be happy.
My thoughts on collecting will always be if you like something, feel free to get it. Only buy what you like, don’t bend to others ideas. Just because someone likes one brand and says it’s better but you like another, get the one you like. This is the main issue with the hiya vs monsterarts debate. Both sides NEED to make the other admit they suck and need to switch and it’s pathetic. Let people buy what they want. It shouldn’t bother you. Like I love monsterarts. I know it’s expensive and at times much worse than hiya but I still collect them and share my beliefs on both brands. But do I attack hiya fans? No! I allow them to collect what they want. Do what makes you happy
My art teacher likes collecting, and he has some advices and words the matter that really stuck to me "The price isn't what really matters. What matters the most is how much satisfied and how happy you are with the figure itself"
I dont understand why people get so mad or triggered by different opinions. Collecting is suppose to be fun and relaxing not to be judged, to each their own
Definitely helped me put things in better perspective when it comes with quality and price. I think that is why I like Hiya toys Godzilla figures more then SH monsters arts both have good quality but Hiya is way more affordable.
I actually have a couple videos on the subject, I have one about how to import Godzilla and Kaiju figures, and then I just recently posted a top five import tip video. You should check it out!
something else i dont see people talk about which is kinda the opposite of hating on a figure is the "Must Buy" sort of videos. Honestly I hate these, because even if something is really good by some metric, it doesnt mean i will enjoy it more than something else. I used to be a victim of that, and ended up buying toys or models with the "everyone must buy/build this!" hype and then I get it and i feel like i wasted my money because I just personally didn't care for it. No, I never got Kingdom Cyclonus, no I never built the MG Sazabi Ver Ka, because Im just not interested, despite the hype they have. I'd be wasting my money on something Im just not passionate for.
putting me more at ease at me wanting an imperial godzilla and trendmasters spacegodzilla (poster color spacegodzilla as a whole), the judging look i got showing them off to my mom and others definitely crushed me a bit :( thank you STR
Totally agree. I just hate how toxic communities are becoming. Almost every figure is the best or the worst, they are not able to see that a figure is doing some things good and some things should be improved. Most of the guys are attacking or defending brands instead of trying to be objective about the product (I've even seen many reviewers going that way, not your case). I missed the old days when we could talk and analyze figures without so much prejudice and be excited about a release without it being a brand war....
ive found myself enjoying Super7 stuff despite the flak they frequently get. They sure arent perfect (minus one Ultimates killed my hand plugging the tail and alt head lol) but no company is. I put more value in the solid feeling and larger scale of Godzilla Ultimates over SHMA. SHMA has unmatched articulation but they can be a pain in the butt to mess with and theyre more expensive. Hiya I also really like while theyre stiffer theyre more affordable with more expressive paint apps
Hold- Not a fan of the "communities are toxic" discussion. Whenever that happens the people who do it are circular and piss, bitch, and moan about other fans saying they're toxic. And that's what they talk about. Contributing nothing further, nor looking to change the discussions happening.
Back when I drank soda YEARS ago(cuz INFLATION) Walgreens used 2 have a deal on Coke product 12pks were 4 for $12. I miss not havin 2 pay a ton of money 4 pretty much anything. That's y I like reserving at my Gamestop. I kno I'm lucky cuz I get 2 c the stuff come n, but being able 2 pay down my reserve makes a $179.99 price tag feel better. i'm just surprised u called the soda pop lol. I live in WV and here it's never called soda, it's never called soft drink. We call it pop. I go elsewhere i get looks like i've got dog shit on my nose when i call it pop.
I 100% understand this is a PSA for everyone in the community… BUT I feel like this video was directed toward Ultrazilla himself 😂😂😂 that dude replies to EVERY comment but much more “passionately” to those that are even remotely in opposition to an opinion that he has on a figure, and he seems to take it pretty personal even if you’re being respectful. Moral of the story, let ppl have opinions even if they’re in contrast to yours. Debates are fine but you shouldn’t take everything as a personal attack and/or respond as if it were

I don’t put price in mind while judging a figure, I judge based on how much I like it.
Same

I weigh cost vs how much I like it

Love the message. Agreed!
Agreed Steven. From one Steven to another
If Hiya is a good price at $50 then Monsterarts should be $35 at most 🤑
