Certainly an image change Steve Gilpin had - before Misex he was a cabaret singer in New Zealand - long hair, moustache and often wearing tailored suits, singing a variety of MOR songs.
I'm so glad this footage exists. Mi-Sex are one of my favourite bands, hugely influential on me and my own music, but I never got to see them live. The version of the band that's touring now does look cool but it's only got 1 original member now (and only ever had 2) so it's just not the same. Those first 3 albums are all classics. They're thought of as a new wave band but they were more than that. They had roots in prog rock and that comes through, especially on Space Race and Shanghaid. They were also theatrical when most new wave bands weren't. They were one of a kind.

I have seen many many concerts in my life but Mi-Sex was far and away the best live act I’ve seen.
