  • Is it weird if I say I love her face? Her voice is so soft and magical. It really did feel like I was dancing with fairies.

it was a noose around her neck. some of the lyrics are "I was an offering to the gods and turned into the fairy of the bog. The strangle cord still around my neck like a necklace of braided wool. Still roaming on the peatlands for a thousand years or two." the song itself is about a "bog body" a mummy found in Stijfveen peat bog near the village of Yde, Netherlands who is the most notable one. The Yde Girl which is whom this song is about. i'll leave a link about her here in the comments if you'd like to know a bit more about her. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yde_Girl

I adore Blackbriar. Zora's dark fairy tales are truly magic; and there is a rare level of depth to their content.
In this song, she gives voice to a girl who was killed in some sort of a ritual over 2000 years ago, but whose body was discovered in Holland and is now in a museum. The fairies referred to are Whisps. In folklore, Whisps gave off an ethereal light that unwary travellers mistook for civilization in the distance, causing them to abandon roads and drown in bogs (marshes / swamps). Whisps themselves are not really malevolent, more unconcerned with the world of humans. These marsh lights are scientifically explained as phosphoflourescence from marsh gasses.
For more Blackbriar, try the dark love songs "Until Eternity" and "Arms of the Ocean" or a trio (not all of which have official videos) that gives a revisionist perspective on Witchcraft: "Lillith Begone" seeks to absolve Lillith from her reputation by suggesting it was given to her in reaction to her seeking equality, "Weakness and Lust" is an accused woman/witch mockingly admitting to responsibility to all the ills of the world in some sort of trial, and "I'd Rather Burn" is the curse of the condemned woman/witch on her way to being burned at the stake - ensuring her executioners will never get over what they have done.

Dont forget about "Confess" which comes right before "Weakness and Lust".

Aw thank you so much, I love my deathcore but nothing beats Blackbriar sound, for me at least. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

It was a noose around her neck, the fairies removed it. But well the song mentioned it, she was hanged
