The music industry was trying to bring back lyricists from all areas of hip hop at the time (Kendrick in LA, Future in the South, many more).. And East was the attempt to bring up an artist from NY that represented NY well who was also a nice lyricist. Dave East is a legend and managed to remain consistent since he was signed in 2014, dude is one of the nicest and most consistent from the new generation/era.
