Do yourself a favor and ditch that Penn Jigmaster for distance casting, or at least glue install a $30 BlackDog tackle adjustable mono mag. It's not a case of operator error. I surfcast a Jigmaster for years and got mediocre results until I switched to the Daiwa Seagate 40H and 50H with braking blocks. Suddenly, tangles seldom happened, and my casting distance increased by 50 percent overnight. I've gradually added other reels-the Avet MX Raptor and LX MC are my favorites for surf and rock fishing. You can blast the MX Raptor over 100 yards with 8 oz sinkers and not worry about overruns.
Having a hard time finding which raptor you picked up. All I can find are labeled "SX 6/4 - MC". Is that what you picked up? I just picked up an ULUA rod that's rated for 80-200lb braid and I'm trying to find a good reel to put on it
Careful with that particular Jigmaster... It's a 505HS. Even though it has a higher gear ratio than the 500, those gears WILL shred under higher drag loads due to the smaller gear teeth. Good for small kine baitcasting, but a regular Jigmaster or a 4/0 may be more ideal.
It’s a tica ulua blue serie. Lihue fishing supplies hooked me up with it 🤙🏽 it’s a 13’ MH, doesn’t say the oz but 6/7 oz lead feels the best for me on that rod.
Sorry for the lack of post. I stay doing track and work, but more videos planned soon
Neva mind with track, work, and school. Fishing is more important!! 🤣
Just kidding brah!
Yeah I wish 🤣 but my dad would kick me out the house!
What weight of mono line do you have on that Penn Jigmaster? 40 lb?
Running 30 😂
