@@dianayanda1411 Hey Diana, thank you so much for all your kind words it does mean a lot to have all this amazing support and knowing that we make people happy is a blessing. That's a lot of videos to watch I believe around 800 maybe 900 videos 😁❤️
Option B by far. It’s much more proportional and I believe it will look better. I suggest staining and sealing the wood with a sealant designed for wet environments. As for the rooms purpose… may I suggest you live with it awhile and let its purpose reveal itself. IMO, it’s a great hang-out spot filled with green plants, led candles, and music. If you put in tall & narrow floor to ceiling closets, it could be a multi-purpose room. It would also be an awesome space during a rainstorm, if you like watching and listening to falling rain. It’s a cool space.
It’s an amazing project! I vote for option b. 😊 it’s common in Canada to use that board size for what’s called board and batten siding. Colour is up to your own taste. Which is always good. Best thing about paint…it’s easy to change!
We have a guest chalet on our property with the same exterior cladding, using even smaller pieces of wood than your option B, and a red metal roof. We stained the cladding and the smaller wood pieces with a dark walnut, almost black, stain. We're very pleased with the result. Cheers!
Option B, and the stain will be beautiful. I think your idea for a closet with cupboards is lovely. Use your space how you want. And of coarse a sitting room in the window area. The view though the bay windows is beautiful
Option B. I'd go for boiled linseed oil for protecting the wood. Use the room for whatever you want, I think sometimes people forget that TH-cam videos like yours are real life not the fake whimsical nonsense that some influencers put out. Proper closed-off storage for your clothes is the most practical thing of all.
Sharon here... Option B and the color of the big board is a great color for the siding. All of your ideas are great, I do know storage is a huge desire in any home, that always needs to be factored in. Wow, a new bathroom! That will really be nice, can't wait to see what your plans are for the remodel. 👍❤☺
Option B with the smaller strips would look great stained the same colour as the wood underneath - I think maybe if you stained the strips a different colour than the wood they are sitting on, it would look very busy. The brown colour sample you showed would look great with white trim - very natural colour and mixes well with the tree trunks in the yard. As to negative comments, why people need to post their bad attitudes is beyond me. Keep up the good work, you are a great team!
Option B. Keep all the siding in same stain color. It will look much more elevated. The white around windows will be your pop of contrast. Too much white trim cheapens the look. Love your style. You two are wonderful hard working people.
It's so cool that many of us on your channel live in other countries and you two actually listen to us for tips and ideas! So neat. The internet makes the world small. I love Option B. So glad you're going to put thin slats behind the wood siding for it to breathe. You'll be glad you spent the extra effort to do it right. For a paint color, I like the brown you pointed to. A light gray might be nice also. The slanted roof that will be visible in your jut-out, you could put an angled rectangle window in there that is at the same angle of the roof. Here in Maine, USA, we call that window a "witches window". Basically, what you two want to do is what is important. If you want to make it into a closet, then you should do that. :D XO
This as a closet with a bonus seat for relaxing by the window is perfect! Regarding the siding. The smaller strips are less wasteful, as Dessy said. The colour you showed is nice. White walls for a farmhouse can quickly look grubby. It is still a farmhouse, after all. One thing-stain/seal the wide and narrrow siding the same colour, and trim out the windows and doors with the white. Stripped siding will be too busy, and kind of a nightmare to maintain-and ain’t nobody got time for that!! 😉
Make the closets where Deivids said @ 11:12 - extent it to the window for hanging items aswell, shelving above the roof rafters. This tower room will come in handy once there's a little baby.
You could make the seat so you can open it up and have more storage. Sounds like you guys have it all worked out. The way you explained it sounds nice.
Option B B B B B B! Upstairs, I think your idea of a large walk-in closet is a good use of that space, especially with the storage above the slanted roof. Minimize windows due to hot/cold temperature lose. Exterior, consider a sealing stain. I like the brown you showed on the plank of wood. You have made huge progress and moving forward is looking great! Thank you for sharing your journey. Blessings.
I like the idea of starting with the roof side storage first. Try it out first and maybe over time this room will tell you what it wants to make you happy in its layout.
Option b as you said it will not cover the other wood behind. You can always do cupboards on either side but only up to the window close to the main roof and the front you can have a window seat with a table so you can work there. Your house you do as what you need. It will be beautiful and useful when it is finish. I also like the wood as it is in colour and would look good with the white surround maybe a clear wax , varnish finish. Great job .
Really happy you told use your plans to make a bathroom with a soaking tub on the other side. After explaining your whole plan it sounds like it will be amazing. Take it from a mom of 9 kids you are going to love having a private bathroom👍
I don’t care if you turn the tower into PewPew’s new house, it’s nobody’s business but yours! What you do is completely up to you and I support you no matter what you do!! Lots of love from Wisconsin as always.🥰❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You do what you feel best in your own home. You live there, none of the viewers do. We don’t know how you use your home or what you need. Make it your dream closet!
Ourside...option A with the wider outer board. Then make them the same color as the background Lauer of boards...NOT white! The second floor extension. I like the idea of part lounge and part closet cabinets. 😊
The skinnier boards look better, and I think the colour of the bigger board Desi put against the wall is nice. The name of this siding style is board and batten. You'll be glad for all the storage you will gain in this closet.😊💗👍🇨🇦
Option B will be a better proportion & look lovely. Hopefully you can use the upstairs loft for a leisurely place to relax & enjoy the beautiful view. Imaginative job! Think closets against inside walls…you built a beautiful addition to enjoy.
I'm all for option B. I was thinking, that maybe you should stain both underneath and little boards the same colour, bc it'd look a bit stripey with white around windows. And i like the colour you chose, but if i was choosing i'd make a bit of a contrast with the window trims. I'd stain the tower in colour of walnut, i hope you understand what colour i mean, and white window trim. But whatever you like, this is just what i would do. Love the couch idea for tower. It'll be so cosy drinking tea and enjoying the view. Good luck wih the bathroom!
Option B, as for the colour, personally I would do the small wood the same colour as the rest. And for upstairs I would have small cupboards or draws along the sides under the windows and a desk-like area where you could sit and do your makeup, or write a letter. It's a lovely space.
Imo option B but maybe consider a white wash on the base boards (paint the entire farm white too) and a very dark stain (like an aged walnut) on the skinny wood, with that red roof it would look like those houses in Germany with the white walls and dark wood trim and beams. They remind me of a storybook house. As for the purpose of your upstairs extension, I figured David didn’t exactly mean a walk in closet like in the whole room. I’m hesitant to offer an opinion because it’s not my house but since it’s an extension of a future master bedroom and you intend to grow your family, I can see a rocking chair there and you can show your future baby your kingdom from that room☺️ You’re 100% right to focus on the bathroom rn, the extension just has to be closed for winter but the bathroom is a necessity.
Trim Strips: B - FOR SURE! Main Color: I LOVE the color on the test board. Weathered look & keeps w/the age of the home. Trim Strips Color: Why not stain the strips the same color. It will keep it from getting too busy w/the white trim, red roof & future thoughts. It will add dimension w/out the busy-ness visually. I LOVE the upper extension! It's an awesome addition to what the future holds when you do the rest. Don't listen to those w/no vision. This is a process not a sprint to your dream upstairs. No rush & you have lots of time to figure it out.
Option B .❤ I really like your color choice and your building design. You guys are so very talented. I look forward to the snowy wonderland view of your property through those windows. Congratulations on the bathroom remodel.🎉
I like option B also. I couldn’t tell you what color to paint the tower without knowing what the color or the house will be. If you said that I missed it. Use the room as you see fit and whatever you need it to be. Like some said, if all your clothes are kept neatly in cabinets, it could be a dual purpose room.🤗❤️🐝
I like option B best! Love the wood color you choose. It will look really good with the white trim! ❤ I love the idea of a walk-in closet. Viewers don't have to live there, you do. So, I would turn it into a walk-in closet, because it is what you need! I'm not saying that to be rude, I just believe Need should come before Want. You can always turn it into a reading nook later on, if you want! ❤
Option b, I do like the darker wood stain with white trim. I'm sorry about having to redo all the boards, but I bet that isn't a mistake that you will ever make again. Looking forward to your next video.
As for you to be working on bathroom that's your choice. It is very important, don't worry yourself about what viewers will say. Those of us that are loyal viewers are here for you. You're doing great for a young couple.
Option B. I like the colour of the wide plank you showed as an example with white accents around the windows and edges. Now that you’ve explained the layout of the tower room it sounds better. I like the window seat idea and the slim cupboards. You should do whatever suits your lives and needs. We don’t have the full picture of all the other areas and opportunities for great views.
Option B ...dark stain, Red window trim, red door. I like the closet idea, as long as the bay window is a seating area. Add a cupola on top of the house or barn for stargazing.
anthracite color looks awesome, it brings a bit of scandinavian vibe and goes together basically with any of other colors. I did my shed in that color.
Option B for sure:) and the closet/lounge will be a great idea and useful space. The two of you have good ideas and work well together! You’ve come a long way, looking good. We remember you digging out that basement and thinking wow!! They’re going for it! We love watching your progress, keep it up,and good luck❤
I have been watching you from your first video at the airport David and Dessey you have made a lot of progress some good some bad but you made them and you have learned so much you are the ones living there it's a big place for starting out but you have survived and are moving on in your life you have a stable life and you do as you can afford witch is a great way to be I would finish the roof on the house finish the second floor and finish the apartment over shop and then the apartment downtown then get rent coming in and then travel but not beyound your means there are emergency that come out of no where you no that for a fact if you have all that covered you are going to live a beautiful and happy life the way you wanted to in the first place David is getting better at his skills so David has something to fall back on if needed and the farm is great
U can star gaze anywhere on your property. U don’t have light pollution so u can c stars from any window. Every woman want a walk in closet and I think if she wants a closet she gets a closet.
We like the smaller boards for the board and batten siding. I think one color of stain for it too. The different woods will look different without the cost and time of two. A closet with a lot of sun or heat is not good for your clothes. Great job!
Option b with the big and small planks the same colour as the bigger plank with white trims and the red roof would look awesome , the extension could be used as a craft room would be a lovely view whilst working away at something x
That opening between the window you have already installed and the future one on the upper floor needs some horizontal and vertical support with pieces of wood. It is quite a gap, it will have to windows and a roof to support. Better safe than sorry.
Option B, the thinner boards with the color you have, like the large board you showed is wonderful. I think making the area both the closet and the sitting area in the extension sounds good. It is a great place to be able to watch a storm from.
I like the narrow strips best and the stain will look awesome. As for the upper space I’d not make it all closet there’s to many windows for that. But you could build them at the sloop like David said just up to the first windows. Do whatever works for your life👍😎❤️❤️❤️
Option B. Ive personally have done this at my place. I do love the way you have done siding. I like the idea of a cupboard and a seat to me it’s practical. Thanks guy
Option B. I too thought that making that a closet was a bad idea, but the way David explains it, you could make it work. "The Milky Way is on the other side." Now, that had me laughing. I did not realize that Latvia was THAT far away! Didn't hear a word you said after that. Still laughing...
Option B with the narrow wood strips would look better and take less material in my opinion. The stain color on the wide board also seems to closer match the existing farmhouse siding and would blend in better, if that is the case. Three windows across the front of the tower seems to be plenty. Storage should be whatever you deem necessary despite comments opposing your preference. Great job so far on everything you have done. Wonderful to hear Dessy's voice back to normal in this video too. 👍👍👍🙏🏻❤❤
I think you should try to match your existing house to blend like the grey/white. Add ons can look funky especially when a completely different color from the main house.
Option B looks better. :) Perhaps a light grey stain so that you're not fighting against the natural color the wood would become. As for the upstairs, I would do what you want because it's your house.
Dessie, definitely option B. I love the look of board and baton homes. And I suggest doing the outside one color on the board and baton. The trim would be nice in white. Plus I would put shelves or drawers in the bench in your closet.
I'll agree with you and most of the people in the comments, Option B. Remember that the colour you choose will also affect the heat during the winter and summer ie. darker absorbs and lighter reflects. Although at the end of the day the decision is entirely yours, you have to live there after all. Keep going, you're doing so well.
Option B for the siding, a good coating of stain to preserve the wood, lighter colour round the windows. The inside is where you live, it has to be comfortable and useful for your living style, perhaps with lower level cupboards towards the window area at the 'front' next to the view and full length cupboards at the 'house end' so it can hold your hanging clothes, without obstructing the view. Still it is your choice and must adapt to your changing needs as your lives progress.
Your plan is excellent. Considering the winters, you have enough windows. With the fewer windows, and good insulation, chances are that you will be using the space, sitting there, and admiring the snow outside.
Yo voto por la opción B , el color que habéis conseguido en la madera es precioso , yo lo combinaría con blanco . A mi me parece una idea estupenda poner ahí un vestidor , es imprescindible tener mucho sitio para guardar todo .
Option B deffinitely…Linseed Oil to protect your wood…you cld put two chest of drawers under the windows and put your T shirts and jumpers in them and you can utilise the tops of them for your coffee and books…
A beautiful walk in closet for Dezzy (the Queen of the house) should have it her way... I say do it the way you want... I also would love it as a closet/dressing room with a lovely big lazy chair or chaise lounge to read by the window.....
Option B. As for the upstairs, it is your home, make it as you wish. You could put low, built-in dressers that double as seating so it could store seasonal clothing in those dressers.

Go with the skinny planks (b) for the extension. Also I would stain the wood with a product that also seals it at the same time. Just a suggestion.
I also like the skinny planks for overlaying your siding. It will add more size difference and I think would look prettier.❤

Great job!
Definitely option B and the same colour stain for both layers of wood ❤xxx
Option B. ❤️ It’s looking absolutely amazing!! Your storage idea makes sense. 👍🏻 You do such an incredible job on everything you create!! 😁
Option b with the big and small planks the same colour as the bigger plank with white trims and the red roof would look awesome , the extension could be used as a craft room would be a lovely view whilst working away at something x
Option B.
Your ideas for the closet are good and sensible.
Angle your window seals so the water doesn’t collect on them! Option B! Love watching you guys
It is a great place to be able to watch a storm from.
thanks for explaining, it makes sense. People always have their own ideas... but it YOUR home. You can't please everyone.
I like the narrow strips best and the stain will look awesome. As for the upper space I’d not make it all closet there’s to many windows for that. But you could build them at the sloop like David said just up to the first windows. Do whatever works for your life👍😎❤️❤️❤️
I choose "B" and I would go with dark (forest) green. PS This little room would make a great nursery -- f you ever need one.
Wood size option B looks better agree with You.
Yes. the tower upstairs is a perfect winter chill room and will look great with low level shelves and storage space. - skinny planks.
Option B with the narrow wood strips would look better and take less material in my opinion.
The stain color on the wide board also seems to closer match the existing farmhouse siding
and would blend in better, if that is the case. Three windows across the front of the tower seems
to be plenty. Storage should be whatever you deem necessary despite comments opposing your
preference. Great job so far on everything you have done. Wonderful to hear Dessy's voice back to
normal in this video too. 👍👍👍🙏🏻❤❤
I absolutely love your desultory of your extention & opinion 2, the thiner one will look great ❤❤❤❤❤
Option B for sure. Love your idea for the tower. Do what makes sense to you both, since you’re the only one that knows what your needs are ❤❤
Option b , skinny wood looks better. Red is nice. Scandinavian , Swedish red.
Your upstairs plans sound great. Bathroom you may have consider what your guests may see or if you have children, what your teenagers will see. Lol
Option B looks better, we think a lighter colour would look best on the siding. Love you guys, keep up the excellent videos. xx Rob n Wendy xx
Dessie, definitely option B. I love the look of board and baton homes. And I suggest doing the outside one color on the board and baton. The trim would be nice in white. Plus I would put shelves or drawers in the bench in your closet.
Yes! Option B!!
Option B, it makes it look lighter, not so heavy 😊 Cool projekt ❤ Make it light and bright 😊 Greetings from Denmark
Μπράβο Δέσποινα και Ντέιβιντ. Συνεχίστε την καλή δουλειά!
B reminds me more of what my grandma had on her A Frame and I loved it. She did a grey in colour.
If you want it closets do it. Your home, your master bedroom. Think it's a great idea. You'll have other rooms for reading, bird watching etc.
Option B. Clever, hard working kids. You are always amazing
Here in Finland option B or bit even skinnier is familiar everywhere.
Yo voto por la opción B , el color que habéis conseguido en la madera es precioso , yo lo combinaría con blanco . A mi me parece una idea estupenda poner ahí un vestidor , es imprescindible tener mucho sitio para guardar todo .
Would make a perfect nursery😊
I like your explanations of tower.
I agree with your idea. It’s your house. Do what you want. Btw, Dessi, I just had my thyroid removed as well. My kids are happy I can’t talk! 😂
Option B deffinitely…Linseed Oil to protect your wood…you cld put two chest of drawers under the windows and put your T shirts and jumpers in them and you can utilise the tops of them for your coffee and books…
Option B. You both are doing a great job. Just love your ducks. Take care and keep your videos coming.
B , y’all work very well together
Option B. B woods same color. I like the color you showed.
A beautiful walk in closet for Dezzy (the Queen of the house) should have it her way... I say do it the way you want... I also would love it as a closet/dressing room with a lovely big lazy chair or chaise lounge to read by the window.....
