Ellie and Abby quite literally became mirror images of one another. I don’t understand all the hate directed at her character because her and Ellie and essentially one in the same; two hero’s of their own stories trying to avenge the ones they’ve lost. They really aren’t all that different. I think it’s only because I’m the previous game we got to play and experience everything as Joel so we’ve grown to love his character that everyone has such hatred towards her.
I think the hate is fair tbh, not in abby's character itself but how she's portrayed as the good one and she's supposed to get everything good. hell the main idea/theme even sucks because ellie is "bad" for being a part of the cycle and would be wrong for taking her revenge but Abby is good for whatever reason and her revenge is justified. her father was killed cool, understandably want revenge, kills someone's father figure, that person is in the wrong and loses everything because they wanted revenge just like you. If the game didnt try to make Abby the objectively good person in the story and ellie is the plot twist bad guy we thought was good, then she probably wouldnt have as much hate. but its just like we're supposed to like Abby more and feel bad about the killing of her friends because ellie is wrong for doing legit the same thing she did or would've done.

That would make it effectively an entirely different game.
