I had a 62 Pontiac Laurentian, 2 dr ht. 283, 3 speed manual. I can tell you I swapped clutches and tranies many times. No problems. Like that bubble top!
My very first car (I got it when I was 15) was a 61 Impala 2 door hard top with the bubble back window and a 283 with a cast iron cased 2 speed powerglide. I blew the torque converter doing a neutral drop and replaced the whole transmission with an aluminum cased powerglide from a later model Impala, not knowing you couldn't replace a transmission in an x frame car. I didn't have any problems and the car worked just fine afterwards. Anyway, I never had heard of a Pontiac Laurentian, but when I saw my first thumbnail of a Penny's Hot Rods video with the Laurentian I knew right away it was a cousin of my first car and I've been a subscriber ever since. I have really enjoyed watching this car take shape as well as the Henry J. Keep up the great work, and congratulations on the first drive!
Thank you for watching and like hearing guys stories pretty cool first car thats for sure and my 58 has an aluminum in it as well now. What ever happened to you Impala.
Good stuff. Back on the road. I remember when u 1st started on it. Like a puzzle, takes time to piece together. (Money helps too) Winter is coming! Hate the cold. 82 here yesterday, feeling great in KY. I remember dropping transmissions in winter on the cold, rocky driveway w/ Dad. At least you have heated garage. No jack, Dads brute strength & my knee supporting tail shaft while wobbling around. Stay warm! Good to see the old Pontiac on the road. Drivers door closes well!!
Great to see it move. Been down pretty much the same road as you with my old 65 Laurentian. Basically a relic transformed into a 4 speed V8 car. Loved it. Cheers.
Looks great! My USA Pontiacs 2 Bonnevilles 60 and 65 are automatics, the 63 Grand.Prix is a factory 4 speed. Yours looks good with the 4 speed. You look good driving it. It's a solid 10!
I know Tim been a busy summer with work but ill still be working on all the little things and will be good for spring plan on using it as my daily driver next year.
Whenever the crew desserts you, we'll hang out with you Cory! I noticed I groaned more than you did and the clip I sent you was only a minute long! 😆 Go Penny's and great work on the Poncho!!!
Good video Corey have you checked your fluid level? Or it could be maybe a synchronizer ring in first gear or maybe a little bit of where on the teeth in first gear, but keep rocking
You must be all out of elbow grease eh. Nice results. Enjoy it for the rest next summer. What ya calling it…the Flying Kleenex…cus you put a little Boogie in it.
@@pennyshotrodscustoms Since it’s a Métis car, maybe you should call it Mouchoir Volant or Fusée Morve in French (Flying Handkerchief or Snot Rocket) Or the Pimihaw Moushway (Flying Handkerchief) in Michif! Pennys Pimihaw Poncho!
The noise i heard when you're starting out in first, appears to me the clutch disk normally slipping. Could be just the newness of the clutch disk. But remember that your car is plus 3000 pound. If you're running 3.08 rear end ratio, the clutch really has to slip to get the car's weight up & going for speed.
If you haven’t done so yet, do a neutral alignment on the shifter rods and then adjust the clutch free play pedal distance per your shop manual on your model.
Excellent Video Penny Crew Cory :) , Bailey :) what is name of your girlfriend to and did want ask why is Automatic transmission level not in Park position buy any chance also that Transmission noise may be need bit more fluid to add on to! Also should ground strap the transmission a bolt in bell houseing with ignition connector to fire wall bolt with connector to also ! It need 8 to 10 gauge with to plus hope got Reverse lights sensor in transmission work too!
Her name is Nelia i did check the fluid when i did put the tranny back in but ill add a ground strap that does make a big difference thanks for watching Andrew.
And that my friends is why i bought a hoist! Jeez, criticizing the videographer. Be nice good help is hard to find! Noise is pilot bearing i think. Thought there was a little noise into 2nd.

Set correct idle speed. Then just drive it for a bit. It'll be fine.
Thank you plan on doing more work this weekend thank you for watching.
My rule of thumb is drive it til breaks--then you know what's wrong!🤐

Lol that will always be the dream Frank have a feeling latter on the trans will come out and ill open it up but i have a few different ins in stock.
Is this bigger than a Ventura? That was my first car.
Im not to sure on that one what year was yours.
I always pulled transmissions out of x frame cars with no problems
lots of room i just remembered hearing some guy say that years ago.
Sounds good Corey Move the Model A
Thanks John for watching.
