In this 18 day Assam travelogue, we travelled to all the 3 regions - Lower, Middle and Upper Assam. We enjoyed Jungle safari at Manas National Park, enjoyed Assamese cuisine and culture in this region.
Following are the details of the places we visited and information about the food items we had all along this journey.
Prashanti Lodge: we stayed at this lodge at Kamakhya road, about half a km before Kamakhya temple.
Coconut at local shop: We enjoyed coconut water and bought Bamboo curd made out of Buffalo milk.
    Coconut - Rs 30
    Curd - Rs 100
Dhaba Highway: This dhaba is famous for Punjabi food, but i wanted to eat this curd along with poha so got poha from this restaurant and used our own curd.
    Address - NH27, Roha, Assam 782103
    Poha Jaggery with Curd
    Poha - Rs 20
    Google Map Location - bit.ly/2Pp4lw8
    Jasingfaa Aqua Tourism Resort :
This is a resort with stay and restaurant facility. I was hunting for some highway resort, where we could stop by eat lunch and found this lovely place. We ordered host of local food and enjoyed the cuisine.
Plantain Stem with Chicken - Rs 150
Plantain Flower with Chana - Rs 150
Drumstick Flower with Potato - Rs 150
Sol Fish with Potato - Rs 200
    Masoor Dal Rs 100
    Rice - Rs 60
Address - Mahrul, Dimoruguri, Assam 782003
    Google Map Location - bit.ly/2IKKw0T
We reached Tezpur at around 7.30 pm, went it for Singpho tribe food at a local restaurant. Food though was simple but very tasty, lot of herbs and least use of oil.
    Singpho Shat Gawk
    Address - Ketekebari tezpur
Singpho parampara thali - Rs 319
    Tea Rs 49 .
    Google Map Location - bit.ly/2GxhHn1
Hope you enjoyed watching this video, in the next episode you will see our local Tezpur visit and we went to Bhalukpong and stayed there in the night.
We were in close vicinity of Kaziranga National park, just in case if you want to skip Bhalukpong, you can travel from Tezpur to Kaziranga.
Thanks for your time, regards Harish Bali

Your (our) state is lovely where ever habitats are. I am looking forward to visit again n again except June to September. I had been to Jorhat.
Tourism department should provide cottages on minimum rent because to enjoy the area at least one week is required.
There is sufficient open space in and around market, residential area and bamboos to construct cottage.
This will create source of jobs. Thanks Brother!

I am not sure if you are aware of this fact but Singpho community in the Margherita area grew tea in wild and used it as a drink way before the Britishers exploited this very idea after breaking the Chinese monopoly and turing it into this world famous beverage that we know as Chai today. So technically they are the very first community residing within the geographical limits of India who first grew tea. (These historical facts are captured in this award winning book called Makam by Dr Rita Chaudhari alongwith many other research papers)
Singpho is also known as Jingpo/Xingpo in China and they do have a significant presence in Southern China as well.
Next time Sir try exploring Eastern Arunachal Pradesh alongside areas like Margherita and Digboi in Assam. You can visit a traditional Singpho village as well. It's a beautiful region with an intermix of cultures and cuisines influenced by both South East Asian and Indian flavours.
    As usual excellent video.

    • @sumangalrajkonwar2371
      @sumangalrajkonwar2371 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@Sonakshi111 Hi, actually Northeastern food is more influenced by the neighbouring South East Asian nations comparing to mainland India. The staple food Rice is common in all neighbouring nations like China, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
And the food habits and other products used for cooking have been highly influential in each other's cuisine and so is culture to a great extent. It won't be appropriate to only consider it to resemble Chinese cuisine as Chinese cuisine is a diverse cuisine on its own. But if you have to specify, I would say Southern Chinese food will be more similar to the Food items and preparation methods you will find in Northeast India. Hope you visit some day and try out what is available here and be amazed.
