Super glad that you were able to reconnect with a couple of your former hiking partners to reach the monument. Made it that more enjoyable for you. 17 days ? They probably smelled you as they were approaching a mile away. I'm willing to bet you took two showers back to back just because you could. It had to be a wonderful feeling having access to hot water and soap. I'd probably sleep with the cake of soap on my pillow ! Congrats on the completion of Washington and hitting the monument. Waiting to see the part you skipped over (heard you hit snow in Oregon - it'll be like the Sierras all over again !). So happy that you were able to do this hike. It's been a joy to see you, hear your "babbling", follow your diet, and watch your incredible photography. I can always pick out your videos by the thumbnails. Congrats on making it to Canada! Even though you got there by flipping, it's still a big achievement, and the flipping was wise, because this way you were able to conquer the amazing mountains in Washington, to add to the Sierras in California. No matter what happens now, you are Queen of the West!
Congratulations Mary, I've followed you from the very start. I was worried about your safety. Here in Oregon the over population of cougars is a very is definitely a problem. A friend of mine lives in Trout Lake and he says they have a pack of wolves nearby. I'm amazed how you stayed so clean and fresh. Your up beat positive personality is wonderful. Looking forward to your Northern Cal and Oregon stretch...hope you find some other hikers to hike with, I have a feeling this will be another wet one! Way to go! woooo whooo!
Glad you made out of Washington. Been following (most of the time) you, Kate Cloud and Tiki Bird Tracey, and you are the only one who completed the full stretch now. Btw lucky no one was out hunting when you walked togheter, because you could easily have been hunted as "Giggle-Birds". Anyway - what a journey, congrats!

Congratulations for all you did and especially the unforgiving WA stretch. I am happy for you and very glad you are finally out of that cold rain, I am amazed you could continue hiking being wet for so long. I have lived in both the UK and WA and I remember vividly that feeling of the cold reaching my bone marrow while in the UK (and it was not even that cold), somehow that never happened in WA, perhaps something to do with walking thru a city (London) vs being in nature. You give a great reminder of how precious your hiking companions can be. Surely you guys do not need to carry any bear spray, the laughter and the singing is enough to message any bear withing at least 20 miles. I always thought of WA as the fireworks at the end of the trail... try not to fall asleep in Oregon.

I really hope as we watch you touch the northern terminus that you are actually arriving at the Bridge of the Gods to complete the PCT . Yes the last week of August and 1st week of Sept were quite overcast and rainy but this is nothing compared to what your going through now in Oregon . My prayers have been out their since the snowstorm and will be with you till you reach the Bridge of the Gods .

I have watched a number of thru hikes but for some reason with yours I just was thinking of the stark contrast between the US/Mexico border and the US/Canada border. Congrats on finishing WA. Wish it had been drier for you. Washington is my favourite hiking destination on a beautiful fall day.
