Gimmelwald is a very originally preserved mountain farming village with around 100 inhabitants.
Here we live in close contact with nature and our animals. The village is characterised by flower-decorated chalets in front of the four-thousand-metre high mountain massif of the Jungfrau.
The sound of cowbells is usually the only thing that changes the peaceful atmosphere. If you are looking for a truly idyllic holiday resort, you have come to the right place.

My husband and 18 year old son stayed in Gimmelwald 30 years ago in May at "Walter's Place" recommended by RIC STEVE'S travel book. Walter ran his small inn, a slushy/snowy trek from the gondola that took us up the side of the mountain to Gimmelwald. We were serenaded that night by a happy group of lodging Yougoslavian tourists drinking and singing below our room. At dusk we sat out on our small balcony under the eves with wine and cheese, listening to the thunder of spring avalanches on surrounding mountains. Lantern-like lamp posts lit the village as night fell. It was truly one of the most memorable times in our lives...and we are a well- traveled .
