Roger Fischer ,is The Magic Man but no one even mentions the special tuning he incorporated to get that raked F chord sounding so majestic, and that last lead blues slur sounding a little different then a normal Pent min lick, pure genius on Rogers part and alot of balls too cause it wouldnt take much too break that high E string after tuning it up so high lol. Heart was never the same after he left , thanks Rog!!!
Oddly enough most of what you wrote is incorrect. Even spelled Roger’s last name wrong. It’s Fisher without the C. Just in case you want to get all of the truth like you did about the chord. Howard played the solo in the studio by the way except for the first note. It was a riff reversed in the studio with the intro note added after. Howard taught Roger how to play all those solo bits you’re giving him credit for. He’s a great guy and excellent player l but if you’re going to talk as if you know, please do your homework and don’t reply on the rumor mill. Peace.
@@PatriotDave87 Interestingly enough, the truth about the Heart ‘sound’ comes from ALL the players playing different parts combining to make an incredible sound. But the true sound came from the minds of Mike Flicker and Howard Leese. I loved this stuff and learned everything to learn back when it was still new back in the 1970s comparing the studio recordings against live performances. The history has gotten so mangled and the Wilson sisters never told the truth about the band and how it was formed.
why would anyone mention the tuning? most people dont know anything about that, unless you are a player and actually spent the time working on this tune.
@@NealVan Howard doesn't get the credit he deserves. He also didn't get to flex his muscle on most Heart records. At the end of Rockin Heaven Down there is a searing guitar outro solo that gets buried under Anne's voice.
Magic Man is Mike Fisher, the one behind the scenes that you can't seem to see. Maybe get a glimpse but is more a glorious vision. Roger Fisher is the Magic Man with magic hands ................on the double neck guitar. Brothers on Earth. Forever shining Stars - kimie
Thanks to your generosity Roger by offering tickets to Heart fans I was able to attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2013. I was honored to sit in the Mezzanine with your wonderful family and friends. That night your beautiful daughter came over to me and asked if I wanted to meet her Uncle Mike, the Magic Man. I said I would be honored. When I spoke to him I congratulated him on Heart's induction knowing that his contribution to Heart was tremendous. So you may have accidentally forgotten to thank him but please know that a huge Heart fan remembered.
Right - the writing and musicianship started to decline (and eventually crash) after he left. Huge commercial success does not equate to good music (think of Taylor Swift, Lizzo, etc.)
I saw them when I was 18... and being a good looking guy at the time tried my best to get Ann's attention and succeeded...She looked at no one else but me..SHE SANG MAGIC MAN TO ME! GOD DAMN! WHOOOHOOO! My buddies were in shock 😂😂😂
Heart was amzing ..capable of ripping ur face off one minute...or lulling u to sleep with a lullaby...dabbling in a prog direction or doing staright up bluesey tones. All the guitar one could hope for...Talent all the way around ..and 2 beauiful voices and women, as its signature beautiful. Barracuda was the song of 77. Although my faves are the archer and sylvan song now...from that album.
Glad to see the Fisher Brothers getting more and more recognition these day for the important parts they played in making Heart what it became in the early days.
This tour was my very first pro concert. They opened for Jefferson Starship. Aladdin theatre for the performing Arts Las Vegas.. is it still a thing ? Lol,
This song is one of the all time greats in rock history. Heart is very underrated as a rock “metal” band. This is their greatest song. Roger and Ann are two of the greatest. Ann’s voice is great.
Rodger Fisher , to be SURE , I have other adjectives to describe everyone , decorum prohibits their use thought. 😂😂 Ann - in this - performance - words can't do justice. Annie is so - she melts me with her voice and persona ❤️❤️. I pray one day I get to meet this magnificent , talented , SUPERSTAR ❤❤
Roger's solo fits the song so well. Clearly a very under rated guitar player. His rhythmic solos blend with the songs perfectly and it reminds me of how Ace Frehley's solos fit Kiss songs.
From 16 to 62, HEART❤ has always had the sound, the HEART❤ the amazing voice's of Ann & Nancy Wilson; from raw talents to stunning live shows, music has always needed Heart ❤❤❤ respected artists from the beginning & still sounding better today!!! Thank you, for these amazing tapes!!! Blessed is the Heart & Soul behind thy these talented musicians!!! 🙏💞🦋
Cought this tour seeing Heart for the first time Aug 22, 1977 NYC been a fan ever since, nothing like the original lineup. I hope next year for there 50th anniversary they will reunite for a Album or Tour I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Rock On
Man we’re they having fun!!! These days I think age has finally taken its toll, Ann and Nancy are doing their own things and the passion has worn thin was quite a ride while it lasted
It never gets old. It chills me just like it did when I first heard it in the ‘70s. Now I’m a great grandma with chills. Yeah, we had the best music when I was young and it’s still here! Thank God!
Thank you Roger and Micheal for posting this video. The Fisher Bros have been our "mentors" and friends when we started Barracuda (Vancouver, BC). We were very honoured to be at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame ceremonies invited by The Fisher Bros. The best part was when the "Original Lineup" performing Crazy on You. It was awesome to hang out with you guys all week. Donna and I wish you well. Great Video Rog is intense and the whole band was phenomenal.
July 17, 1977 Aladdin Theater for the Performing Arts, Las Vegas. An amazing night in my home town! I can never express how grateful I am for these songs; Heart's very particular sound spoke to me like no other. It was healing balm to a young man's broken life. Thank you.
Roger Fisher WAS Heart, all the classic guitar riffs and intro's on the bands first 4 (and best) albums were him, not Nancy, she just played rhythm, when Rog left the band went downhill.
Man, that Les Paul was beautiful. What a great song and killer licks. The other guitarists always seemed to use that tele with the bigsby, although I've never seen him wiggle the bar in the bigsby since they rarely work well I understand.
Can't beat he 70s rock music. A time OF ALL the greatest. There was Zeppelin Aerosmith Styx Queen & Heart. I had the Best 8 tracks back then "Dreamboat Annie " was an album that defined the 70s. Still have the album. Now, all my albums are loaded on my phone
The brothers are great, and so are the sisters. It’s clear that relationships like that will not end up well. At the end, family is family and partners are partners
Well, they should have! It was really fun to watch that and to follow by reading Rog's posts. Since that time, it's been a pleasure to get to know you both and see you the cool people you are. I can't believe that was so long ago... 2013?
Memo to Ann & Nancy: Next time, don't fire your lead guitarist. You guys might've made a lot of money off those '80's records but if you think they are what gave Heart such a great sound and made you a fan favorite, you're dreaming.
How about memo to Roger to not be such a horn dog with anger management issues. Dont blame Nancy one bit for not wanting associate with this out of control abuser. There fixed it.
What I find interesting, is that Roger's name is credited with co-writing Magic Man, on the original release of Dreamboat Annie. I have that original album that my dad bought in 1975. But for some reason, Roger's name is no longer credited with Magic Man or Crazy on You.
loved watching the fisher brothers version of heart history on reelz tv. it broke the myth that the fisher brothers got rich in heart and simply decided to become slackers with lots of women and booze and drugs. instead it caught my attention when they said dog and butterfly was supposed to be a harder rock album if not for sue ennis who i also like.
I always loved that synth break in this song! This looks like he might be playing a Moog but it's not the same sound as on the record. The record sounds lower, maybe just a different filter setting on one of the LFO's that night? I don't remember the story behind this song anymore, I'll have to look it up. I'm curious if Sue helped write this one? Edit: Ok I know it was written about Mike. th-cam.com/video/IzHDyzmIvMI/w-d-xo.html
Yup the synth is definitely different, remember this is old school though, they weren't quite there yet. One of the most amazing live acts I ever saw was The Hooters (yes) they opened for Stevie Nicks....I was really impressed by their playing, and mixing prowess.

Yep, I watched Pablo Cruise play years ago, had no idea what they were playing.
Heart wouldn't be Heart without Magic Man. It's original innocence, energy, signature song. Roger Fisher (founding guitarist)
No one plays it like you Rog ! Awesome !!!!
Heart were on fire here..... at the top of their game for sure....
Their and Yes production values- both recorded and live were ground breaking,
even with the cheapy stereos of the time...

Gotta agree with you on that one hundred percent, although that is certainly not the “popular” view.

So underrated, they were a big part of my rock collection on 8track.
How the hell did they come up with so much awesome all at once. The guitars just flow like a river from one part to the next

Same here Dave, Dog and Butterfly tour, Louisana's Leroux opened for Heart in Birmingham. I don't think that show was in February though.
Saw them in 78 pir portland or
I didnt grow up in the 70s but when I was a kid and first started playing guitar this was totally a song that defined it.
