Do NOT apply adhesive the way this guy is doing it!! He is creating many trapped air pockets behind the panel, so the panel will never be flat against the wall. Instead, do a series of straight or serpentine lines of adhesive up and down OR across the panel, leaving openings between lines for air to escape out the sides or top.
It was recommended to me to use a 1/8” V-grooved adhesive applicator and spread the adhesive evenly across the entire area of the panel. This makes more sense that gobs of adhesive and then trying to roll it out flat.

I had a company install "wet walls". They only sent one worker instead of two. The sloppy silicone job ruined the whole look, plus its now peeling. When they put in a new black drain, the area is now all chewed up. They are suppose to be coming out for the second time to "take a look" after I sent pictures. If you cannot send the right amount of workers, then reschedule. I would have waited until 2 were available, rather than have this happen. He installed a huge black framed glass door, and punctured my LVT that is 1 year old. If 2 workers were on, it would not have happened. Nobody takes time to silicone or caulk properly, uniform and neat. It's the final step and it matters.
I was wondering the same thing. I'd assume as it was only half inch on the tub, that if it extended past the surround, the calking would hide the rest.
Where can a person purchase this? It is not on your site? The one there is does not look like this with square tile configuration. Plus the back sheet in your site is one piece and here it is 2 piece. You have 3 pieces tub surround there and 4 pieces here.
You can buy trim pieces that look similar to what is used for floor transitions, basically a thin strip that gets glued over the seam and then caulked.

Trapped air pockets? And the air pockets will do what to what?
Yea what lost me is 2 tubes worth of caulk per panel what an asshole

Lol
I’m thinking of spreading the glue evenly with a notched trowel. Some wall surrounds are so thin they pick up every flaw underneath.
How did that work?
This is really great background music makes me excited to go install a tub surround

No trowel? My instructions said to spread the adhesive with a toothed trowel for thin, even coverage

I use the 3M 3015, 4in wide as the membrane
Does the "membrane tape" extend down past the surround panel? Do you trim it with a knife? Can you use silicone here, instead?

I think there’ll be a Part II?
Insane in the membrane
🤣🤣
insane in the brain
What type of membrane is this? AND WHERE DID YOU BUY IT...............
I just put some membrane on my exterior cement wall (below grade). That would probably work. It came in 4' rolls though.
Gorrilla waterproof patch and seal tape, paint section for some reason, at home depot
I’m guessing flex seal would work also.

I'm not positive, but it looked like a simple window and doors rubber membrane. If not, that would work just as well.
Would that work?
Joseph Felix it would, but I’ve never used a membrane when doing a tub surround. Just make sure you caulk the shit outta it
What company makes the membranes, another name of the membrane. Cant seem to find it,and no one has ever heard of it.
no membrande in that vertical joint?
Why on Earth would you use 2 panels for the back when you can buy a large one for only a few more $.
