    I had a gorgeous campsite recently, at least at first look. Once we got settled we noticed the micro trash - everywhere, just below first glance. we spent an hour cleaning just around our site.

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      We know that feeling, Terry! Great job cleaning it all up. I noticed once all the trash is picked up its easier to relax and enjoy the surroundings.😀

      I boondocked for 2 weeks near 11 mile lake. I had to clean the trash of course. It rained for 3 straight days and every day the rain would wash away a level of soil exposing another layer of micro trash that had to be picked up. It's almost funny until you think of the jerks who think its okay to toss their bottle caps on the ground or to just leaved their broken bottles.

    We parked right behind your very cool van today at the top of Mount Evans. We were in the beige 4runner. Saw your TH-cam channel on the side of your van. Enjoy your adventures and stay safe. T&J

    We absolutely LOVED this video! We watch & thoroughly enjoy ALL of your videos! Showing 4 spots was super-helpful to us. We would have been totally happy with any of them, but we would have chosen Williams Fork Reservoir if we could kayak on the water. Thank you for all the effort, thought and creativity you put into your videos. It shows! You have an amazing "eye" for gorgeous images and a very kind, easy-to-watch/listen-to demeanor. You are our favorite TH-cam channel ... and our dog loves watching Ruddle & his favorite ball! Thanks for taking us along on your "advantures"!

    Beaver creek for sure. You get the secluded, high elevation, still near a water source & who doesn't love beavers. Good cell reception & Carrie near big body of water was a no brainer. 😁

    #3 would be my choice.
    The whole area is amazing.
    Looks like you are enjoying the canopy, I have been on the fence about those. I have read so many comments from people who have them and never use them and the people who love them and use them.
    Always a thumbs up 👍

    Hi guys! It's Jodi. My husband, Curt and I, thought that you would have picked location #3, but we didn't realize that you would have needed cell service. We thought #4 would be your last choice due to the amount of people there. But a person's got to make a living right? LOL
    We would have chosen #2 or#3 as we would also prefer the isolation and privacy. That was a fun idea that you had today. We are so happy for you that you are doing well. See you next Saturday. Xo

    All nice locations, but I would pick number 3. I love the green and looks like the fishing would be good. I didn't consider the elevation when I made my choice. You guys are masters at finding free camping. I am surprised that it did not appear to be that busy in any of the areas. That is crazy to me in the middle of summer.

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The first 3 locations were not on any of our free camping apps so that helps keep the crowds down. Also, this area is not near any cities so it's an off-the-beaten-path destination. We are about ready to hit the offseason now so it only gets better from here. 😀😀😀

He found enough wood to build an off grid log cabin on site!!😂 But seriously, the best camping spot is the one when the rig goes into "Park" and the brakes are set. But of the ones you showed, I would choose the last one by the water....I sleep better when I get the full nature effect! BTW, I got my Green Beanie this week, love it...waiting on my Stickers.... When I was starting the video I was like that one, wait where you going? Then onto the next one, no this one is the perfect spot. Then you hit number three and I was like, that's it no more searching. It's got sulfur springs in the name, that has to be the one. You should just stay in each place for 14 days, problems solved. That brings me to a very big question I have. How long do you stay in an area like these? Do you stay all 14 days or do you have to move on due to cell reception or food needs? Thanks for the great video and informative video too.

    • @oneadVANtureatatime
      @oneadVANtureatatime  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We usually only stay 4 or 5 days because we need the internet to research and upload to TH-cam. We have to find a library to upload due to a limited data plan. We need Sky Link to come out with an RV plan so we can stay out in the boonies. Although we have found a couple of paradise-like places we have stayed a total of 14 days. We have to be ahead on videos and have some internet to do this. For everything to line up is quite rare but when it does it couldn't be more amazing. You guys can retire early and we will gratefully show you the ropes. 😀😀😀

    When Roodle gets wet from swimming, what do you do in terms of allowing him back into the van? Do you dry him off? (Even towels do the job somewhat...). Do you put out a blanket for him (because I'm pretty sure you don't want a wet dog on your bed!)? From what I know about dogs, once their coats are wet, it does take some doing to get them dry!

      @oneadVANtureatatime  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, Robert! Yes, Roodle has his own waterproof dog blanket that we put on the couch or bed. Plus he has his own dog towel. Even at that sometimes the van smells like wet dog.😂😂😂

    I miss camping! I miss the mountains! I moved away, but Colorado is still under my skin.
    Please don't let your dog drink from the creek. My dog got Giardia and was literally bleeding from her anus.
    Also caution around mushrooms. My dog got a face full of spores and needed an emergency vet all the way to South Park from Como. My poor dog couldn't stand for 3 days she was convulsing so badly. She recovered completely and didn't learn a thing.

      Sorry to hear about your dog's misfortunes. I am so glad she recovered! Roodle has no curiosity when it comes to mushrooms, thankfully. We will have to keep a better eye out on the creeks. Thank you for passing on the useful information. 😀😀😀

    • @oneadVANtureatatime

      Hi Hannah. We use our Berkey water filter to treat water near our van. We also have a ceramic MSR filter for our pack. The Berkey water filter is awesome and has extended our stay many times. 😀

    • @oneadVANtureatatime

      We ordered this step off Amazon. We LOVE IT!!!! The legs fold so it is easy to store and it is super strong. This particular step has a 440 pound rating...which I think is plenty. Here is a link to the step we are using.
