If you go back and watch the earlier episodes you can see that Teresa schemed to get Ethan but he fell for her because she was fun and he never had that before. She brought something out of him that he never knew he had.

While people may feel sorry for Gwen, most of what happened to her was of her or Rebecca’s own doing. She was constantly insecure in her marriage and probably knew she was no match for Teresa. They should have had Teresa and Beth take Gwen out and had the truth about Ethan exposed sooner. They could have made Ivy, Julian, Eve, or Alister kill Rebecca off. That would have gotten rid of Liza and Andrea (who was never on contract to begin with).
