My Wireless Seatpost has a big problem... Let's hack it!

  • I love my Rockshox Reverb AXS dropper post. It’s solid, works quickly, looks good, and is operated wirelessly. I’m unwilling to use another dropper post, especially one with a cable release, but it’s starting to look like a good idea. The battery in the back of the Reverb hits into my tire when the rear suspension compresses all the way. Today, we’ll seek a solution for this issue.

  • @jesperjohansson3834
    @jesperjohansson3834 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Having one of these posts I have noticed this only on small bikes and on over shocked ones. It might be hard to avoid this in the design unless it is mounted lower on the front of the post. Flipping the battery to the front runs into the problem Seth showed so it has to mount lower if you do that. On my Specialized S3s I don’t have this issue.
    That said I think Seth was 90% of the way there with the adapter design. If you attach a sacrificial piece of hard plastic bumper to the back of the seat rails it could make contact with the wheel first and prevent the wheel contacting the battery adapter.

    As with all new to market products the manufacturer will hold some features/design back for v2.0, v3.0 etc. I bet they already have this sorted in the pipeline for the next version, to make us buy the new one!
    Also, I don’t understand why they don’t combine the post control into the shifter, that would get the cockpit even cleaner. Maybe that’s coming!

    Why not try putting an extra ring on the seats tube (drop tube?) (similar to adjusting the threadless neck for the forks and handle bar stem) between the seat post and where it clamps to the frame forcing the seat a tad higher. This would keep the seat low enough for the jumps and such, but would mean when the seat in its highest position, you would sit a bit higher, maybe a 1/4" at the most would be needed, at least I would imagine that's all that would be. Wish I had a better way to explain the idea, but maybe someone else will catch on and add a better way of saying it.

    Your seat definitely flexes more than you think and having a battery that can explode when punctured under your seat is baaaaad. Alot of seats will have marks from where they have flexed and hit the "guts" if this happened with a LiPo it would be getting pretty hot down there.
