As a Catholic ive always loved Andersen's portrayal, like in media we're often portrayed as either cardboard boring or the absolute incarnation of evil, so having a character like him that's just an utter badass is so cool to see.
All the characters in Hellsing are *surprisingly* well written. You'd think Anderson was just some extremist xenophobic monster hunter that loves a good fight but he's actually a man that sincerely believes in his faith and wants to protect those weaker than him (as long as they don't pick a fight like idiots). He even helps Integra, a woman he called a Protestant whore, over following the orders of his own church just because he saw the corruption and respected Integra as a worthy adversary. His relationship with Alucard is, well. That. And his monologue before he stabs himself with the Nail really gives you an insight into his psyche. Overall 10/10 love that dilf
I don’t know if it’s still true today, but GK Chesterton said that you cannot find 100 people in the world who hate the Catholic Church, you will, however, find many many people who hate their idea of the Catholic Church.
Hellsing has a bunch of stuff in it that I normally might not gravitate towards, but because it has such strong "hell yeah the creator was having a good time" vibes that it transcends my usual preferences and is easily one of my all time favorites! I can definitely understand creating stuff for a broad demographic, but we also need creators like Hirano who make stuff first and foremost for themselves. That kind of passion will always find its audience :)
Hell yeah giving Hirano sensei some respect I watched every episode of Ultimate a while back and I have to say it was awesome creepy and fun. Also factoid the Hoods the Catholic soldiers wear are worn By Catholic penitents in Spain so Hirano really did some research on the church with this story
Ironically in Spain on many of their Catholic holiday and mass many will wear the hoods as part of tradition ceremony. Spain is really weird went it come to religion stuffs.
This legit made me relive my first experience with Hellsing. Watching a marathon of it til sunrise on some random ass anime channel when I was sick. I was like 12 or 13 years old and it was the most RAW shit I'd ever seen lmao. Your series retrospectives are genuine passion projects and it's endearing to see well thought out and content with actual effort put into it that just oozes love for some dope shit rather than the usual generic animanga content.
On God! The original Hellsing TV show was my intro into anime at the ripe age of 11. My young pubescent brain was glued to the tv during the Alucard vs Incognito battle and I absolutely loved it.😅 Then when Ultimate finally came out, my expectations were blown up, shot and impaled. 😁
Hearing someone just go OFF about how good Hellsing is warms my damn heart. Hirano was so unapologetically FEELING himself with that story, and to hear someone just as unapologetically praise it feels so good and true to the series. ❤
I always love when people discover this series. It's a ride for sure, though it always seems like people don't understand how unkillable Alucard is by the end lol. There's also a lot to say about some of the lore thrown in near the end. That blood given willingly imparts a larger piece of ones self to the vampire. Seras gains her familiar, Pip- all of his love, support, knowledgem and ruthlessness are not only a part of her forever now, but it gives her a feeling of never being alone. Alucard's was the Hound of Baskerville, a shout-out to Sherlock Holmes. Later, after the Hound is "killed", I assume it's shifted to Schrödinger, since at the end he is now everyvhere unt novere. While the prequel could have shed some light, you are right- the original story gives us enough hints to basically piece together the gist of what happened in the past. Walter, as an under 18 year old has an existential crisis when he realizes how powerful Alucard is while just fucking around, and how he's basically immortal. It's likely implied that he was eventually forced to use level 0, which is why the Major and Walter know about it. I doubt Arthur would have told is vampire hunting butler how to kill Alucard. From there, Walter makes a deal with Doc, as it's implied at the Major is killed before the Party gives up. In the future, after I've reawakened Alucard, turn me into a vampire so I can kill him. I must admit that I do not enjoy the 2001 anime. It was okay, it was different, but it wasn't really what I liked about Hellsing. It was fine for what it was, and gave more development to Seras as a person, but outside of that, the music is really the only part I liked. I'll give you a fun detail, in that my local library as a high schooler had the first 7 or 8 volumes. That's how I found the manga lol. I own 9 and 10, since they never seemed to get them. I enjoyed Hirano's change from that wirey hair on Alucard to the smoother style, it was almost like he slicked back his hair in V3 and was like "I like this, I'll keep it for a minute".
You know what? When I become a dad, I'll introduce my kids to anime, manga, music, video games, and other forms of Japanese entertainment besides the typical western stuff. I want them to try them out so they can experience the things I loved since my youth and I can happily give their suggestions a fair chance on similar matters.
I always think of Hellsing as the best 90s comic ever made. It reminds me so much of Spawn. With better art. And Spawn has great art. I also think it’s funny that people compare Alucard to Vash. Because other than glasses and a color scheme they couldn’t be more opposite characters.
40:12 Fun fact: The voice director for Hellsing Ultimate was TALIESIN JAFFE-like Percy de Rolo himself saw this and said, “Yes, I want these accents to be OUTRAGEOUS”❤❤❤
Man, Hellsing was the shit in my teenage years. This was the series that personally restored the terrifyingly awesome vision of vampires during the Twilight craze. This is probably where my fascination for long-coats began, to be honest. Kota Hirano really is an artist that, despite being capable of encapsulating both style and substance, will prioritize style with substance being more of a add-on.
The "Boodoo People Murder People" writing on the Shields of the Ghouls at around 26:25 could be a Hommage to the Song Voodoo People from The Prodigy. The chorus of the Song sounds similar to what is writtenon the Shields.... So it could be a possibillity.
A bit late to the party, but you're more correct(probably) than you realize: Japanese has trouble with distinguishing consonants from other languages will often resort to using Katakana(Japanese "syllabees" primarily reserved for the display of loanwords/words of a foreign language to display these over writing in Latin letters. The most common mistake, and a famous stereotype for Japanese speakers is a lack of differentiation between "L" and "R" since for a Japanese these are somewhat identically pronounced(*) and utilize the same Katakana(and Hiragana) when written. Your observation however is a slightly different case, for you see, certain Katakana simply don't exist because these syllabees aren't used in Japanese, which is the case here. The character for the [wu] sound - in English often being written as [woo] or [voo] - is represented by the Katakana for the sound [bu], so Voodoo ends up being displayed as such: ブードー ; in Latin script this would read as Būdō, the first and third character of the Katakana representing the syllabees, and the horizontal strokes representing the vowel being long. It's entirely plausible(since this is far from a niche occurence!) that Hirano ended up being somewhat confused into writing Voodoo with a "B" due to the shortcomings of Japanese transliteration with respect to Latin script. *Varies from person to person. Some pronounce the L/R sound with a strong inclination towards the "R", but most commonly a Japanese speaker will lean towards "L".
God damn, I absolutely love your energy and commentary man. I'm not a big anime fan at all, just a goth obsessed with vampires who stumbled upon your channel, but I really hope you keep making your videos. I'd watch em just for the interesting and energetic vibes you bring into what you make
Thank you for making this retrospective. 10 years ago. I an 11 year ago was listening to a shrillex amv featuring Hellsing. Immediately the badass imagery drew me in and in the comments I found out it was called Hellsing. From that point onward I watched the whole series up at night. Got into anime, got interested into edgey characters, grew interested into Japanese media as a whole and grew into grim videogames. Years later as someone who's only ever seen ultimate, my first anime every that made me into the fan of seinen anime and got me into death note early in life. I'm glad this video exists to shed more light into a man who I never considered learning about. His work has changed my life, I agree, style is a way of life. Devil May Cry is a reflection of that. I found this video while searching for the manga online as I grew interested in the manga and I'm very glad with how the video game out and now I'm interested into his other works. Thanks for being awesome mate
8:17 I thought that "Sir Integra Wingates Hellsing" was an invention of the Abridged team. You know, because it's hilarious to hear Walter repeatedly address her with the "wrong" title. Also, hearing about Hirano's artistic past explains why Alucard used to be a loli girl in the past. It parallels Hirano's own past.
I always thought that the "Boo Doo People Murder People" was some obscure reference to to Prodigy's song Voodoo People, as Jan Valentine looked like hardcore clubber in the 90's england. Btw, have you read the Gunnm/Battle Angel Alita manga? I imagine that you would like it as it has in my opinion very cool style to it. Yukito Kishiros style of drawing futuristic vehicles, prosthetics and other futuristic stufff really amazes me personally.
Just finished watching, Damn I love your work. I'm excited for whatever you've got coming down that pipeline! And my condolonences on your loss. Hope you're doing okay
This was so cool. As a long-time lover of all media containing vampires, the first Hellsing anime hit me in my late teens when Blade and the like were on the rise. The unapologetic violence of it all, while still having compelling and interesting characters, is what really sucked me in. Ultimate was an amazing upgrade, and now I think I'll have to get my hands on the manga. But honestly, your totally hyped-fanboy excitement about this had me drawn in for the whole video. Keep doing awesome things, man.
hellsing is just pure indulgence and i LOVE it. just enough angst and philosophy to not make it a mindless gore rush while also not making it boring, making all the characters so fucking cool they all their own tumblr appreciation blog, and so so so many guns. this is the shit i watch when i get a 3am adrenaline high.
Man, stumbled upon you through your Trigun retrospective, which I found today while looking for a decent video explaining how it ticks. Now, thanks to this video, I'm excited to see more. You're really good at making your retrospectives just _feel_ good to watch
My entry into hellsing was the 2001 adaptation and man am I glad it was! Still holds a very special spot in my heart and soon going to pick up the deluxe editions because I just need them.
honestly the more i watched this video the more I understood why I loved hellsing my self... even tho I obsevily watched and read everything multiple times ( for me its every Christmas time). I never really sat there to think about the "why". Yet you nail the "why"; its cool I like it and I'm proud of it. Hellsing being just Hellsing yet being so good in doing that. Every time I introduce a friend to hellsing they first arent interested at all, yet if they start I always see the same results. A new person that is totally obsessed with it.
Hellsing has a special place in my heart. The TV series was the first anime I have ever watched (OVA was long from being finished back then) and the Hellsing manga was the first manga I ever read from start to finish. It was also the reason why I went down the slippery slope of internet culture, because Hellsing was (and still kind of is) largely unknown in Russia and I had zero people who I could talk about it in real life (even among those who had a passing interest in anime). In a weird way, it actually changed my life and warped me into a guy who is deep in the internet culture, computers, gothic aesthetics, VtM and so on. Heck, maybe I wouldn't even be a software engineer today if I didn't stumble onto Hellsing in my early teens! Crazy how that works.
Hellsing is a wonderfully made example of trusting in the rule of cool. I don’t need it to be spelled out for me, I need it to just be cool and fun as hell.
To add to the insanity of all the references and fine detail: in one panel, one of his gloves has the word 'trigun' hidden in the scrawled text around the main design. I wonder how many other little Easter eggs he hid throughout the series 🤯
i absolutely adore hellsing and drifters. first saw the OG hellsing, fell in love with it. then found ultimate, fell in love even harder. then stumbled across Drifters many years later.... then fell in love all over again. legit my fave art style, always solid casting, and some bomb ass music. if only drifters capitalized on their "see you in season 2" cliff hanger.
Hellsing ultimate has become my favorite anime in the history of animes ever and has permanently affected my sense of style and what I love in a fictional series, barring not even just anime. I legit rewatch it monthly it's so good and recommend it to everything and everyone. Amazing retrospective all around I have to say, and gave me a lot of insights I didn't know into Hellsings origins!
Broooo I’m absolutely loving your channel and I would’ve said this about 5 videos ago but I wanted to save Hellsing for later, you’re one of my new favorite channels and you bring back so much nostalgia for me AMEN BROTHER
30:10 a few important notes regarding Mina from someone who read the novel. the reason she turns human again by the end of the story is because she never became a vampire to begin with. the way vampirism works in Dracula is that the bite merely puts a curse on you, but you don't actually become undead until you die. Mina started to show some vampire traits earlier because the count forced her to drink his blood (something that is explicitly stated in Hellsing too), but it was still only a curse and it got lifted with Dracula's death (which in the novel was at the hands of Jonathan, Mina's husband) also, her and Jonathan's child is named Quincy after the token cowboy member of the group who died in their final fight against Dracula. not sure what this stuff about her having a son named Alucard came from one more thing: calling Mina "the girl Dracula takes for himself" is really downplaying her role in the story. Mina "the train fiend" Harker is undoubtedly the smartest person in the team. sure, Van Helsing knows a lot about vampires from experience, but Mina manages to figure a lot of stuff out on her own, compiles and makes sense of the weird things the others have witnessed up to that point and is the one who comes up with how to track down the count after it seems like he managed to scaped from them for good
One of my favorite things about the Abridged series was how often it used music from the 2001 anime. As a Hellsing enjoyer I love the manga, Ultimate and TFS Abridged series to pieces, all for different reasons. I watched the 2001 anime years ago and never really enjoyed it beyond loving the voice acting and animation style.
Phenomenal video, I’d love a google doc with all the sources of all the info you got like links to all of the oneshots and interviews and literally everything here in fact I fucking LOVE Hellsing and I need it
Hey bruv. Just found your channel a few days ago via the Ajin video and have been working my way through the rest of your content. (which was a great video, btw) I lost my dad in 21' due to brain cancer. he basically put me on to anime. I remember watching DBZ/Big O/Outlaw Star you name it when I was growing up. (similar in age to you) I'm not here to sulk with you or give you the fix all advice. I wont say that it gets easier, but time does help. I'm sure your dad was a good dude. From what I can tell he raised a good son. Keep up the good work man.
Appreciate that man. Coming up on a year within a few weeks and it for sure doesn’t get easier, we just gotta stay pushing and grinding. Thanks for the comment dude, and glad you enjoyed the videos!!
Not to mention mother fucking Crispin Freeman completely hitting a fucking homerun with the voice of Alucard. Edit: Just got to the part in the video where you touch on the voice cast; Hell yeah brother.
That would be Ghost in the Shell for me but Hellsing Ultimate (including New Dawn) would be yipping at its heels... the only reason Ghost in the Shell wins is that I relate to it more on a personal level....
my only regret? not being born sooner to witness hellsing at its peak and all its glory. to miss out on cons and exclusive events/items... it hurts me deeply!!
What I appreciate most about Hellsing is its love for its source material. Integra, Seras and Anderson are characters that would fit right in with Dracula, just cranked to 11 when the shooting starts. And while it is an action series focused on cool, there are some genuinely wrenching moments that the art and the voice acting in the OVAs really bring home.
I fucking love Hellsing ultimate. Alucard is so overpowered and such a badass. I most shows I just watch once, but Hellsing ultimate was the first show I watched a second time. It’s so great and hilarious when most of an anime is really detailed, it then there’s these moment of simply drawn sillyness. It just makes a good contrast
"Bitches love Cannons" - Kouta Hirano (after discovering the man behind this masterpiece, you know that quote could very well be attributed to him XDDD )
That dichotomy of violence you mentioned i think is a great way of showing how much of a monster alucard is Like seeing the brutality on civilians, and the way Alucard loves war, change it up a little bit and Alucard would react the same way to decimating his enemies. No matter how charming he is he's still a blood thirsty monster It's why i enjoyed the recent dracula movie (last voyage of the Demeter) for a long time draculas been a suave nobleman who occasionally likes his drinks salty. It's nice seeing how truly monstrous and sadistic he is every now and then
Just finished reading all 3 deluxe edition Hellsing books and it was pretty dope! The story is interesting, not the best but not terrible at all, but ohhhhhh my god the artwork is truly some of the best I’ve everrrrrrr seen!!! Can’t wait to watch the anime now!
It's actually historically accurate, the Spanish catholic church had those white hoods for their warriors (and they still use them for Christian parades), then the "American dudes" decided to reuse them
Hellsing Ultimate is my favourite anime of all time, when I recommended it to my friend he watched the whole thing in one sitting. I told him that despite Ultimate having more adult content the 2001 series feels more adult. Except for that one time that the Birmingham vampire girl gave her boyfriend some sloppy that was wild
Making me feel old twice over mentioning that the 2001 series was over 20 years ago and the Ultimate OVA was about 10 years ago. But still, thank you for reminding me of all the reasons I love Hellsing in the first place. I might have to get the hardcover edition manga now.
the anime only ending usually only happened because they weren't getting a second season and knew or the anime went through too much source material and had to make their own. which has become less of a problem in recent years because streaming services and also smaller seasons/taking breaks in the middle of seasons
So about the anime ending, like you mentioned the teaser had the major in it but since Hirano's such a slacker they ran out of stuff to adapt and clearly had to improvise, but for what it's worth they did a fine job
My ex got me into Hellsing and we both still enjoy it. We both adore the '01 Anime for its stylistic choices and quite frankly superior soundtrack. One day my dream is that Ultimate be recut with the '01 soundtrack with new music made by Yasushi Ishii.
It's not that Alucard is unstoppable or unkillable. It would just take *way* too much power to do so. Because whatever fought him would have to be able to attrition out all the souls he has under his command *without* adding new ones to his domain.
@@WaterMelon-Cat Conversely, so long as Alucard perceives himself as existing, he cannot be killed. His immortality is at a much higher level than before.
@@KaNoMikoProductions not being able to have familiars would kind of suck. Also I do not think Alucard can turn people anymore. For example when he turned Sera’s it linked them until Sera’s took his blood and became a true vampire herself. I wonder if this type of link is similar to how he takes familiars and hence if he turned someone would that link cause the identities to conflict and he will disappear again ?

I can definitely understand creating stuff for a broad demographic, but we also need creators like Hirano who make stuff first and foremost for themselves. That kind of passion will always find its audience :)
honestly hellsing is one of the only titles that i never get tired of
re watching or re reading it is always as exciting as the first time
Same!
It’s such a tightly written series.
We wear those in latinamerica too
I love it when Alucard goes on walks, very enthusiastic walks
Bro…THE GONZO SOUNDTRACK BRO. It can’t be beat. It’s Iconic.
Manga at school!? Dude, I'm envious!
Better than Dragon Ball or Berserk?
@@thomasffrench3639 When I say 90s comic I'm specifically talking about American comics.
Yeh
Damn, I miss the edge of the 90s so bad that I think im gonna cry.
@@satansjihad6353 Edge gets a bad rap.
"Anyone can be a bad bitch if he decides it" is the perfect way to describe Kouta Hirano's artstyle
The "Boodoo People Murder People" writing on the Shields of the Ghouls at around 26:25 could be a Hommage to the Song Voodoo People from The Prodigy. The chorus of the Song sounds similar to what is writtenon the Shields.... So it could be a possibillity.
A bit late to the party, but you're more correct(probably) than you realize:
Japanese has trouble with distinguishing consonants from other languages will often resort to using Katakana(Japanese "syllabees" primarily reserved for the display of loanwords/words of a foreign language to display these over writing in Latin letters.
If Hirano references Prodigy he just gets cooler imo lmao
And I absolutely love Alita good call lol!
After hearing it was gonna be a spooky episode, I was hoping it was gonna be Hellsing!
Just finished watching, Damn I love your work. I'm excited for whatever you've got coming down that pipeline!
And my condolonences on your loss. Hope you're doing okay
Thank you so much for giving this manga the recognition it deserves. This and media like this shaped my tastes today
Yooo thank you!!
A new person that is totally obsessed with it.
this video was the final push that convinced me to buy this series
Love to see it
You'll love it! 👍
His style is basically just the rule of cool, and you know what? I respect that a lot.
Hirano just takes his sweet time to write, there is like legit still not enough content in the Drifters manga to make a season 2
Shout out to the one individual paying your bills, they are the real one.
"TH-cam doesn't like the violence"
Meanwhile, Team Four Star: Alucard, go for a walk.
Broooo I’m absolutely loving your channel and I would’ve said this about 5 videos ago but I wanted to save Hellsing for later, you’re one of my new favorite channels and you bring back so much nostalgia for me AMEN BROTHER
I’v been living for 24 year Hellsing series still the most enjoyable thing i’v ever watch
Great video, one of the best I've seen in a long while. Gotta love it when the vampire the masquerade bloodlines music kicks in.
30:10 a few important notes regarding Mina from someone who read the novel. the reason she turns human again by the end of the story is because she never became a vampire to begin with. the way vampirism works in Dracula is that the bite merely puts a curse on you, but you don't actually become undead until you die. Mina started to show some vampire traits earlier because the count forced her to drink his blood (something that is explicitly stated in Hellsing too), but it was still only a curse and it got lifted with Dracula's death (which in the novel was at the hands of Jonathan, Mina's husband)
also, her and Jonathan's child is named Quincy after the token cowboy member of the group who died in their final fight against Dracula. not sure what this stuff about her having a son named Alucard came from
one more thing: calling Mina "the girl Dracula takes for himself" is really downplaying her role in the story. Mina "the train fiend" Harker is undoubtedly the smartest person in the team. sure, Van Helsing knows a lot about vampires from experience, but Mina manages to figure a lot of stuff out on her own, compiles and makes sense of the weird things the others have witnessed up to that point and is the one who comes up with how to track down the count after it seems like he managed to scaped from them for good
This was an awesome episode man. I love hellsing and love hearing your views on it. Love hearing about Hiranos story too
One of my favorite things about the Abridged series was how often it used music from the 2001 anime.
As a Hellsing enjoyer I love the manga, Ultimate and TFS Abridged series to pieces, all for different reasons. I watched the 2001 anime years ago and never really enjoyed it beyond loving the voice acting and animation style.
The editing and footage used in this video is really good. The sound is also on point, great work
Phenomenal video, I’d love a google doc with all the sources of all the info you got like links to all of the oneshots and interviews and literally everything here in fact I fucking LOVE Hellsing and I need it
Peep the tumblr I just added to the references in the description I got a lot of info there!!
Great point about Ultimate's great use of CGI. We are so lucky this OVA series actually reached its conclusion.
Hey bruv.
Just found your channel a few days ago via the Ajin video and have been working my way through the rest of your content. (which was a great video, btw)
I lost my dad in 21' due to brain cancer. he basically put me on to anime. I remember watching DBZ/Big O/Outlaw Star you name it when I was growing up. (similar in age to you)
I'm not here to sulk with you or give you the fix all advice.
Alucard was the darkness we needed while the rest of the world was obsessed with Twilight... "Now let me show you how a real vampire does battle!"
Dude.... I'm LOVING that Golden Eye theme in the background!!!!!! That's my all-time favorite video game. 💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Obligatory engagement stoke that algorithm. Love the format. Great work
Always appreciated 🫡
37:27
My man strategically cut the scene right before Seras just ups and vanishes into thin air during the camera pan.
I'm on a Hellsing marathon atm. Alucard, top notch one the coolest character ever
Not to mention mother fucking Crispin Freeman completely hitting a fucking homerun with the voice of Alucard.
Edit: Just got to the part in the video where you touch on the voice cast; Hell yeah brother.
hellsing as a series can be summed up as Hirano’s fan art of his own ideas
Anytime someone asked me what my favorite anime is its always hellsing
That would be Ghost in the Shell for me but Hellsing Ultimate (including New Dawn) would be yipping at its heels... the only reason Ghost in the Shell wins is that I relate to it more on a personal level....
Yeah, Hirano is a big shot in my eyes! I can’t wait for this man to release more chapters for the Drifters vs the enemy team is crazy!
my only regret? not being born sooner to witness hellsing at its peak and all its glory. to miss out on cons and exclusive events/items... it hurts me deeply!!
Leaving comment for algorithm. Not everyday see a video where people talks about all Helsing adaptations +manga in a single video. Thank you!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
"Bitches love Cannons" - Kouta Hirano (after discovering the man behind this masterpiece, you know that quote could very well be attributed to him XDDD )
Hellsing is the epitome of doing the most with very little.
Rewatched hellsing ultimate, got inspired so much that i beat my 1 year long art block
That dichotomy of violence you mentioned i think is a great way of showing how much of a monster alucard is
Like seeing the brutality on civilians, and the way Alucard loves war, change it up a little bit and Alucard would react the same way to decimating his enemies. No matter how charming he is he's still a blood thirsty monster
It's why i enjoyed the recent dracula movie (last voyage of the Demeter) for a long time draculas been a suave nobleman who occasionally likes his drinks salty. It's nice seeing how truly monstrous and sadistic he is every now and then
Bro that southern drawl is strong when you say words with and "i" in lmao
Hellsing Abridged,
"Father O'malley O'connel O'carol O'riley O'brian O'sullivan, who is also Italian"
Imagin reading doujins for actual research. Youre the man💀
Just finished reading all 3 deluxe edition Hellsing books and it was pretty dope! The story is interesting, not the best but not terrible at all, but ohhhhhh my god the artwork is truly some of the best I’ve everrrrrrr seen!!! Can’t wait to watch the anime now!
That outro got me, rip to pops man, great video, imma revisit Hellsing. Watch OVA whilst at uni and Andersons entrance still gives me chills
Damn, it must take a lot to make these hour long videos
this is probably the most in-depth analysis of hellsing ive ever seen
Hellsing is that shit that will get you sent to the principals office in a heart beat if they catch you back in the school days.
Three different studios? Development hell? How did it turn out so damn amazing?
Awesome video! As a lover of both Hellsing and Trigun i guess i have a type for the main character LOL
Lolz😊
The Nazis and Catholics coming together with those hoods on is definitely not symbolic 😭😭😭
He was being straight up 💀💀
It's actually historically accurate, the Spanish catholic church had those white hoods for their warriors (and they still use them for Christian parades), then the "American dudes" decided to reuse them
Love your videos! This was an awesome retrospective
Ayeeee thank you!!
This is one of the best video on hellaing on this freaking platform ! You the goat dawg
man, I love Hellsing. Also great video :) hope to see more like this in the future
hellsing rules for sure one of my favorites I wish they would publisher the Dawn in english
you can find some chapters of the dawn in english online, but theyre mostly on crappy websites
Get him to rewatch in TFS dub.
“And police that one time in Brazil.” Ah yeah we’ve all been there
I was introduced to the series by a friend. At first I had no high hopes but the OVA left me wanting more. Cool video! 👍
You are underrated Man, great content
Criminally underrated channel! Keep it up man, great content
Would REALLY love to see your perspective on Nihei-san's Blame! though..
Hell yeah great video as usual! I love that you put the names of the songs in your video
Yooo thank you glad people like that it takes forever to make those lol
I think you’d honestly enjoy reading Dogs: Bullets & Carnage based on what you’ve said about Hellsing & Trigun
Aw yeah !! Watching this in October about to binge the show once again !!🎉
What a fucking Video essay this is a masterpiece with more background work than my master thesis and i was glued to my screen for all of it
So about the anime ending, like you mentioned the teaser had the major in it but since Hirano's such a slacker they ran out of stuff to adapt and clearly had to improvise, but for what it's worth they did a fine job
“tumbleweed ass dude” lmao
26:23 I think that's a reference to a Prodigy song called "Voodoo People"
Absolutely great video. Hellsing is really unique with its artwork.
He cant absorb souls anymore because of the Schrodinger cat kid. Although the extent of his power now is unknown.
