I’ve had that exact clock radio (“radio clock”) since 1994. It faithfully wakes me up everyday. It was cool to see the inside of it after all these years.

Hello my friend... I have one just like this...dropped it on a hardwood floor last night. Now it has no sign of life... I took it apart... the cord still has continuity to the soldered connections...i can't see any broken pieces or broken plastic... I think it hit ground on side cord comes in. Any advice on next step.

How did you remove the base once you removed all of the screws? I keep feeling resistance from inside the radio and don't want to force anything. I would like to be able to remove the base in order to clean some contacts, as I'm getting very scratchy noises when I adjust the volume and tuning knobs. Otherwise, this radio still works great after 30+ years of use!

I'd first double check that you didn't forget a screw somewhere - tends to be super easy thing to miss. After you're absolutely sure there are no screws missed, you might have to do a bit of wiggling to convince the thing to come apart. In 30 years time, anything sticky liquids that got inside will get really sticky, bad components that leak may cause things to stick, etc. You can get a feel for how much force it takes to break a circuit board by finding a similar board (age-wise and construction-wise) elsewhere and trying to break it with your hands. Just don't apply that much force on the clock. With that said, if this clock has any sentimental value and you don't want to be super sad if you do destroy it, don't touch it. Good luck!

What is the use of 9v battery out there. Does it work on battery without electricity?

The 9 volt battery is a back up during a power interruption/outage. It maintains the current time and programming (alarm time) HOWEVER if the AC power is still off when the alarm is set to go off it will not sound until AC power is restored. For that reason I bought a little battery powered travel alarm clock as a back up to the first one. It has saved my butt a handful of times when the power was out or I forgot to set the clock-radio.
