Tbh I never read the comics I just saw someone compare the two characters. And they take certain elements from the comics but there are a LOT of changes. Solider boy looks completely different. And most elements are different. I’m just saying this might be what they’re doing.

Stan Edgar and Vaught know this and use it to control him. At this point he doesn't want to risk pissing the big boss off and losing his means of getting public adoration.
