As tourists, presumably with limited time to sightsee, what keeps them standing around on one spot just staring at or trying to engage with someone else’s horse?
First woman didn't read Ormonde's body language with pinned ears. He did NOT want to be messed with. After I replayed the second woman's 'lesson' several times, I saw that Ormonde was relaxing. almost dozing off, and she just shot right into his personal space, possibly it startled him, but at least he definitely was not feeling it - LOL!
It comes across that the poor lady in the lavender top paid the price of the harassment that the previous awful flowered-dress woman got away with doing to Ormonde (who clearly had enough and she didn't care). It's a shame he didn't get HER because the Lavender Lady hadn't even done anything, she didn't even reach for him, and apparently she didn't see how the previous woman was winding him up, so she wasn't prepared as the green shirt lady before her was (who stood farther away). Lavender Lady took it well, bless her, even saying 'sorry' for upsetting him, while that self-important group of women stood there literally laughing at her. Red shirt girl was thrilled to just stand there and get it on camera and have a snicker, too. People suck. Rewind and watch that entire group of women, as it happened and afterward to see an incredible commentary on human behavior. I suspect Lavender Lady would never have just stood there snearingly if one of the others had gotten knocked down, even if it was deserved, and that's the difference between them.
I wish people could take a hint and not antagonize Ormonde. Clearly the horse doesn't want to be touched or petted. If he seems agitated stop forcing him to like it. He's not bothering you so don't bother him.
Well wasn’t she brave - standing way back so Ormonde couldn’t reach her while she tormented him for amusement of her equally moronic friends. They might have moved the bit up a wrinkle to give the trooper more control through the reins but Ormonde’s powerful neck muscles could wrench those reins out of his hands if he wanted too. And it would take a good few seconds for the trooper to rein him in if he decided to be more assertive. She wouldn’t be smiling and entertaining her friends by taunting a horse if his teeth wrapped around her hand or she ended up under those hooves. And she would have deserved it. Abusing any animal for the amusement of others is abhorrent. But nice shot Ormonde - the lady in the lilac top learnt the hard way what it means to Invade his space and ignore the clear message he’s sending. It’s not a petting zoo and the horses aren’t there as just props for their photos. Maybe it they can’t “read” a horse’s warning signs they might start reading the very clear warning signs on the wall. Perhaps they could alter the wording slightly and add - the horses may kick or bite “if they want to.”
