    Thanks for all the tips and your incredible videos. You're a legend, Mike. One additional thought here building on your points... even just keeping the bait in the strike zone 2x-3x as long should increase your odds by at least that amount, and then I agree 100% that there's an extra kicker/multiplier resulting from a unique presentation and greater distance from the boat. Gold.

    This distance is interesting. Ducks learn the length a gun will shoot and fly just out of range to die but close enough to investigate.

    I was long lining an I-Slide 262 yesterday in East Texas. Water temp varied 85°-88° fishing a channel flat with a drop off to about 20 feet. Spooled out alot of line felt two hits on the retrieve but no bait chokers. Your exactly right Mike what ever works! No different than long lining a Texas or Carolina rig. Think outside of the box.

    • @galva777tx
      @galva777tx 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deep East Texas Boys nothing Big yet your typical Texas 3-5 lb. Dinks. Hopefully fall will be better. I've heard good things about Naconiche and Murval. I believe some of those F1 bass Mike may be on were transplanted out in Cali years ago.....came out of Murval.

    • @detexoutdoors2509
      @detexoutdoors2509 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      galva777tx yessir, Murvaul is my home lake. If I’m not mistaken, when the Share Lunker program was started, they got their males out of Murvaul. I hung one on Naconiche on Saturday that I couldn’t do anything with. 8’ xheavy rod, 65# braid, 30+# drag. Pulled me down into a treetop as soon as I set the hook. Never could get it out.

    Thank You for taking my to time to produce these videos. The way you talk about technique, conditions, equipment, mentality of the target is gold. Breaking down the subtle nuances are the difference between not getting the bit and getting a fish of a lifetime, I think only 2% of anglers get that. Keep it up man!

    another winner bud. glad you touched on the the negative "stigma" that certain techniques get. just throwing the larger baits in my region get a guy a lot of flack, but I agree that at the end of the day we all have that one goal, the biggest fish in that water system. I think the bad press a lot of this stuff gets can be primarily chalked up to fear of change and the unknown.

  • @noahfertick7256
    @noahfertick7256 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've never thought of that before, that makes a lot of sense. I agree with your point on "outsmarting the fisherman", I think there's a lot of small things to do that can set you apart from everyone else. I think a lot of people ignore that, and are missing out.

    Thoughts on trolling your bait out of a spot. Long cast and dump some line then troll out while bait works thru your target area i.e. staying in strike zone longer because bait won't be coming to the boat

    i’m mostly a shore fisherman, because I can’t afford a boat for now & ive wondered if this method would work. say i’m fishing a decent sized pond and I bomb a cast out and walk... 50-100 yards down the bank just dumping line the entire time. I think it’s possible that it could work just as well.
    i’m just hesitant to throw one of my big hard swimbaits because... well, it’s a pond. and there’s tons of shit for me to get stuck on. and I know I should already consider it gone. but damn.

  • @rcagle123
    @rcagle123 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How many times have you had a bass follow your lure all the way to the boat and just as he is fixing to commit, he sees the boat and darts away? Your theory makes a lot of sense. I've also notice when I troll for sandbass or hybrids the long line seems to catch more fish.

    Retrieve speed has to change as you doing this doesnt it? As line spools back up youd have to slow down a bit? Or do you just go constant the whole time? Sweet theory!!! Could explain why fishing the bank fish will follow in then trail off 6ft from it.

    You want hater's, come to Florida and fish with live bait. Some of my earliest memories are of my dad and I bank fishing or small john boat fishing with giant shinners or blue gill. We caught so many giant bass.
    But now day's you will get cussed off the lake if you fish live bait. I still fish live bait every now and then and I don't really give a shit. It's very much legal and productive. I will try the long line technique your talking about. Keep giving it hell out there brother.

    so much info in this clip. I was like dude how can you tell everyone this BUT I get it sharing info educating people ... fortunately most people are too arrogant to actually listen to what youre throwing down here. also, to your point, I have the FL IGFA line class record for 4lb, 13.25lbs.. for years all I head was so much crap about no way this an that, fact of the matter they have no idea how long I hunted that fish and the perfect window I had.. anyway, most all anglers have something to say but its just too veneer, selling shitty stock baits and BS rhetoric, but havent put the time in,, you keep it 'working class zero' .. I am a fan of nothing but def subscribe bro .
