Ella V they didn't make any mention of her death during the broadcast. Aside from anything Aida was one of her big roles.

Caballe was one of the best sopranos of 20th century . I heard at the met in Luisa Miller and Ballo. She was sectacular. Haw angreatful ofthe Met that they never invited her for nothing and they didn'even mention her dead. Iam from Colombia a here they wrote about her and she only sang here a recital in Cartagena.
Every single mayor opera house honoured Montserrat Caballe. The Met kept an unacceptable silence that just shows me they have no class at all. What a shameful attitude. She was by far one of the greatest singers of the century. If the Met doesn't honour its history are they truly worth anything anymore?
Exactly! They're over here doing intense fluffy marketing for their new season but cannot take 5 minutes for an hommage? A video posting of one of her numerous Met performances? Says a lot about them.
@@camillegreffe110 Singers like Caballe get people into opera. With all due respect, but very few of the singers that are presented in these videos are capable of inspiring anything. I hate to say it, but this generation of opera singers not as good as the ones before them. And I am not an old man remembering past glories, I am 21 years old, and in part thanks to Caballe I learned to love this art form. If the Met thinks young fans like me (who will fill their seats in the decades to come) don't care they really should fire their publicity staff.

I'm 30 years old and at this point, I'd rather see a recital or concert version of an opera with great singers than a glitzy, larger than life, feast for the eyes production that is not vocally thrilling. In this age, the opera-lovers seem to be divided into two categories: those who go for the singing (and are aware of what opera used to sound like), and those who go for the "show", or for the prestige. Clearly the Met caters more and more to the latter category.
Camille Greffe and Juan Loaeza Viadas I totally agree with both of you. I have hope that the tide will change thanks to people like us! I’m training to be an opera singer and I’m studying the old techniques :)

Elina es la mejor Mezzo de la actualidad. Roberto desde hace años está en declive por cantar repertorio inadecuado.
