It's all about organization and tools. Being able to keep your parts and associated bolts/wires organized and together plus having the right tools and equipment for the job. It's definitely doable, but does look daunting.

It's one of those things that looks way harder than it is. That harness for example may look like spaghetti but almost every connector is different so it can only plug into the component it came off of and the length of the wires usually leave the connector right where it needs to plug back in. It's just a matter of taking it one step at a time, you get in the zone and it can even become enjoyable.

I was elbows deep under a vw jetta doing a power steering rack, using choice words and pondering life choices that had led me there; the old timer in the next bay looks at me and says 'Skippy, it's just nuts and bolts. Take stuff apart until you can get where you're going'

Back in the 80s and early 90s, the J.C. Whitney catalog used to have complete kits to convert the GM cars with the unreliable diesel engines to gasoline. Every thing you needed except the engine. It included even a gasoline fuel gauge. Only difference was it did not say diesel. This is reversing the process, without an aftermarket kit.

Once you drive that Duramax in a short bed you may never drive another gas truck again. It would be like switching back to non-alcoholic beer.

Saying that engine isn't an LS is the same as saying a Chevy smallblock isn't a chevy smallblock if the block is made of aluminum. It's semantic BS.

Please just put the 4.8L up for sale. Dont put that in the Malibu. Just not worthy of swapping. Its just so inferior.

A big job car wizard. I would prefer to put the same type of engine back in. When ever you put a different kind of engine in a vehicle they never seem to run right !!! You will waste a lot of time and energy and have to make parts fit !!! Good luck 🤞
