I understand your concern but at least the ACD from Aqualung in the DIN version can't fail that way. It's openened mechanically when the first stage is screwed onto the tank valve, not by the pressure of the compressed gas. (res.cloudinary.com/aqualung/image/upload/v1677854855/AQL%20Digital%20Assets/Landing%20Page/80years/kqaejduh3z8h8fzq9eok.jpg). You'd have to unscrew the first stage to trigger the ACD and I think if that happens there are other issues you'd have to deal with. However, there was one reported case a few years ago where there were issues with the yoke version. I think that lead to a design change. Seems there were no more issues since then.

@@RogierJanssen i wish that were the case. unfortunately, the ACD randomly sealed CLOSED on my Aqualung Legend (Yoke, 2017 model) earlier this year. Pony cylinder saved me. Reg had been serviced within about 9 months prior, moderate use. Immediately brought it in for early service/inspection. Couple dives since then-with Pony at my side. So far issue free. But, also switched to Scubapro MK19-DIN. Thanks #AskMark for this and all the tremendous publications! New to DIN, so particularly appreciate the guidance on 1st Stage maintenance.
@@mrausma92 Oh I would never use a yoke model in the first place. I could imagine an acd closing if the yoke isn't connected properly. Is that what happened?
#askmark hi Mark love the films ,after your advise on heated drysuit under gloves, I have a problem with a few fingers and when diving in cold water they don't like it, can you think off any heated gloves that may solve this problem for me many thanks rob d
Sure, Santi have a really nice heated glove with heating lines down each finger. Thermalution also made some but, I think they went out of business... There isn't a huge number of options out there but, I'd look at the Santi gloves and maybe the new Fourth Element AR Gloves. They're not heated but use new fabrics to provide better insulation.
I actually had the fluttering issue this year on a brand new Aqualung Legend. Sent it in for a service under warranty. Report did not mention the ACD as the reason and I haven't had an issue since but now I'm wondering whether that actually was the root cause.
DIN is usually better because the DIN 1st stage will have an O-Ring to act as a seal. I don't think I've seen an A-Clamp dust cap that I'd trust to submerge.
#ASKMARK Good day Mark, love the videos and information. I have a question about gas consumption. Since I first learned to dive, I have always been a person that uses "more" gas than other divers. I have read and seen information that states that you "use the gas you use, don't worry about it", but it seems universal that divers wear their lack of gas consumption as a badge of pride. I am a regular 56 year old guy at 6'1'' and 210lbs. Should I worry about my gas consumption and if so, what can I do to decrease it so I don't get the business about it on the dive boat? Should I go side mount so that I have more gas? For context, I have about 200 dives in many different environments. Cheers, JDP
Bringing more gas with you is always the best way to extend your dives. The best way to improve your air consumption that I know is Yoga. The fundamentals of yoga are less about bending yourself in weird shapes and focus more on controlling your breathing.
A valve keeping water out could possibly fail in the closed position, which means shutting off or reducing airflow. It's a hard no.

I believe that if the Aqualung ACD system ever were to fail, it would fail in the open position.

Is the yoke dust cap any better or worse than the DIN? Seems like the screwing mechanism would be a better deal?
