finally, a review that is not just power metal and pure shredds, now i have a much accurate perception of this amp. (it doesn´t sound like if a Boss Metal Zone in "ON" all the time) thanks!
I own one of these amps as well, and I’ve upgraded the speaker to a Warehouse Guitars Veteran 30. The speaker upgrade was well worth the $80 or so that I paid for the speaker from Warehouse. It really lets this amp live up to its full potential!
Hey I just picked up one of these. Mine is 1st generation I Like the sound from it but it seems excessively hissy even for a Tube amp. Any suggestions? Tips. Peavey are great amps but like I said the hiss is kinda driving me nuts. Thanks
@@blues4jesus likely the wiring inside. the internal components and wiring inside these older 112s are very poor quality. i'd get all of it replaced by an amp tech. also, make sure you do the two greatest mods for the valveking, the effects loop mod and the dummy jack mod. put a single patch cable into the send and return, and put a 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter jack into the second input. those two small easy mods will transform your valveking into something much, much better. way less mud.
Thanks for this, I'm picking up the vk 212 tomorrow and I have heard some woeful tones on most of the reviews on youtube. This had some really nice gain tones and makes me a bit more confident about the amp. You rock man :)
I like the amp. It's got loads of versatility. It's a great grab it and go amp for rehearsals or hitting the Tuesday night Blues Jam. 2 channels with separate tone controls is a plus.
Thanks my friend for this real good demo! The sound is very great!! It helps me to choose this Amp to play to the Rockin 1000 in Paris on next June!! See you!!
I’m a novice player so I plan to learn proper technique & how to chain pedals on the FX loop of my first gen Valveking 112. I feel it’s an amazing “bang for your buck”. I’ve been wanting to upgrade the stock speaker to a lightweight Neo Creamback (for sound and convenience)
@@avengethedeadtx i have the valve king and the Peavey 6505+. I use a pedal to go from distortion on the 6505+ for metal to the clean on the Valveking. And sometimes I use the distortion on the valve king for rock stuff.
I replaced mine with JJ's and it sounds fine, improvement over the originals, but possibly just because they were matched sets and not "baked" like my originals were after 2 years of work.
Us "grandpa's" saw the original line ups of the bands who inspired the bands performing today. We learned those licks the hard way, wearing out lps and cassettes.
My gain channel sounds just like this on my head but better because of the cabinet . .Great Marshall straight ahead rock sound ..I don't do metal so it's amazing and much quieter than my 6505 was, and my previous 5150 in the busy gigging late 90's... I have 70/80s in a 412 Marshall 1960 and it's thundering if need be, and sounds great at bedroom volume, the only amp I've ever had that I preferred was the original 5150 that I had to sell mid 2000's...had to use a noise gate with that tho and I don't with this. Still want a 5150, but I'm not letting this amp go. Solid.
For anybody in this comment section that has one of these, I got one but mine ain't working it's just not getting nowhere near enough distortion as this one and I have no idea, anybody know what's going on?
Second channel is where you find the most distortion. Gain gives you preamp distortion. Volume gives you power amp distortion, which increases in the "class a" setting using the texture knob on the back panel. The class a setting will reduce the overall volume, but drive the power tubes harder. The boost function seems to be on the power amp section and gives a bit of breakup there as well as a volume boost.
Agreed the factory sound is a bit muffled. You can EQ some of it out and make it very tolerable and flexible for it's price. A new set of tubes and a replacement speaker will also address those issues. Ultimately, it is NOT a boutique or point to point wired amp, and will never sound like one. But it is an AMAZING deal to get this much flexibility for such a reasonable price.

2:17 solid rock tone!. We just love those Peaveys!
I have a Vk112 too, and I love the clean tone of this amp, Smooth and soft.

How was the amp?
@@ertugrulka.4244 My experience with that model is it's heavy and loud. Fine amp, needs wheels and 2 roadies to push it up hills.

1:30 its kinda like the dying battery sound isn't?
Finally upgrading my amp... you helped me decide on getting one of these. :)
Thanks my friend for this real good demo! The sound is very great!! It helps me to choose this Amp to play to the Rockin 1000 in Paris on next June!!
See you!!
I have a Valveking too. This os the best Review!
You know how to play and make an amp sound great! Love the VK. Great demo.
loved the review, great tones. This amp blows the valveking royal 8 out of the water
Really helpful.

Izio Shaba no need to make this political
Nice playing, thanks for the demo
nice review. I've had one for about nine years and hardly ever used it properly. Now I will. :-)
Excellent review. Love the strat….
great amp and you play very awesome
Love the pupper coming to play fetch
Got the same mate and by the look of that volume setting it should be horrendously loud in that Kitchen.
Nice demo. I like your guitar style. My buddy has one. It sounds even better live.

Strat, peavey and a cool dog. Just need a fireplace.
These look like amazing ly clear amps. Will it make a good bedroom practice amp? Too powerful?
It's a loud amp for sure but I've used it for a bedroom amp and it did just fine.
Nice review
Well, it sounds very good.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤟🏼
Hey great review, very helpful! I'm thinking of trading in my Peavey 6505+ 112 for this amp. Definitely leaning towards this one.
Kevin please explain why. As a Valveking 1x12 owner myself, What is you rationale?

Dont you play " Rory " on Mrs Browns Boys ?
Cool Labrador 😎
Mine sounds super fizzy for some reason! Help!
I put a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker in mine
Valveking 112 or Marshall Dsl40cr? Both with V30 speaker
What a byuing?
Can you please tell me which tube is perfect for this amp. I’ve the same amp and my tube is not working.
I replaced mine with JJ's and it sounds fine, improvement over the originals, but possibly just because they were matched sets and not "baked" like my originals were after 2 years of work.
I heard that this amp handles the single coils and I know why hear it is ,
Super sound !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This Grandpa actually can play...
Carlos Perina I know a lot of grandpas that can play. Check out Kenneth Ray Mullins.

Lil 59 or JB jnr?
My vk112 gain channel has never sounded that good!
@Bloom Tik Bloom yep did that years ago. Celestion 70/80

Dude throw the dog his ball!!! Poor hound just wanted to play a bit

Tons of compresión are killing the tone!
