Actually, the contest idea with a prize at stake is pretty silly. But the combination of flamenco and gypsy jazz makes a lot of sense, given that flamenco is gypsy music too. Great interplay between two guitar masters.
Both equally brilliant in their own styles. No competition in music. There is always a mood for a particular taste.
No one wins or loses,
let's just take a step back and marvel at two master and only dream of standing in their shoes.
What a celebration of talent. Bravo!
This is an amazing idea to put theses 2 together. With a small drum and a bass; they would do marvels and I would buy the CD, no doubt there.
This was just amazing lol they're both awesome but at the end they both just started playing together and the competition didn't matter cause the real winners are the audience LOL
Well, if it was a contest I also give Stochello the edge. He has an amazingly relaxed and fluid delivery.

Stunning when they play together... first time I've seen flamenco.
Flamenco is certainly more difficult and introversive but gypsy puts that great smile on a face.
Personally I find Stochelo more interesting as a listening and learning experience but the vibe of flamenco will always have a place in my heart.
Stochelo is my hero for ever, I have all his albums, but in this thing he just cannot compete with the spirit of flamenco.

I've noticed a fair few people in the comments section taking this a little too seriously. While it is a fun idea for a friendly "exhibition" duel, they are both different styles, I am a fan of both these musicians and they have their specialties, Eric being a flamenco player would have the edge in terms of rhythm (Although his lead is still fantastic) where as Stochelo has the edge in flat picking lead (Although his rhythm is still fantastic) they both have their own styles, both are winners.

why pick one of the biggest names in jazz manouche with someone relatively unknown? i understand that he could in fact be a great guitarist but why not do a comparison with a guy with at least similar harmonic knowledge like antonio rey?
Both are just great
There is a definite flamenco influence in Stochelo's playing that comes from Django who was inspired by the genre.

I think Rosenberg showed the greater proficiency in their respective craft; however, both are excellent artists and the true winner is the audience who is able to enjoy their artistry of the craft.
I'm not agree to give a price or made a competition like this way ... they are a different style and both are so good !!!

Yeah it was a beautiful idea to bring both worlds together gypsy jazz flamenco 🔥 💃 not sure what not to like in this ? Stupid people can’t enjoy because one is gypsy jazz the other is flamenco and ? Both guitarist are painfully beautiful technical guitarists both represent their own styles at the highest levels ! It’s beautiful I enjoyed every second ! This was epic start to finish ! 🙌 ❤ 👑 👑 ..

this was such a ridiculous competition its like putting a bobsleigh and an f1 car and seeing who can beat eachother! they work in completely different fields... there is no such thing as 'best' they are both amazing and i loved both!
@tapijtje voor mij voelt het als.. een heerlijk kreeft eten afgewisseld met een heerlijk dessert van frambozen,amandelen.. Het is alletwee heerlijk.. maar je doet beiden tekort door afwisselend te nuttigen.. Laat staan als je ze bij elkaar zet in een grand finale! Maar dat is uiteraard geheel persoonlijk!

@DhrRepelsteel Just because someone isn't technically as accomplished as another it doesn't make them an inferior player. They might have a style that appeals more because they aren't obsessed with showing how much they know all the time. I feel Bireli is more technically accomplished than Stochelo, but I'd much rather listen to Stochelo. He's my hero. I like Vaarzons style whatever standard you pigeon hole him in.

Stochelo plays Nuages beautifully, then it was Gypsy Groovin' and after that a chord improv over Limehouse Blues as far as I know :))

GYPSY JAZZ is generally noisy in my opinion , some of reason I think it's because guitar string is steel string . flamenco is less noisy because its stirng is nylon. I prefer flamenco more.
