Heart of Darkness - Folio Society vs Folio Society

Watch me compare upgrades of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness as I consider an older and a newer Folio Society edition of the novel. The older version was released in 1997, while the newer version was released in 2014. It's a Folio vs Folio battle, and the reader wins!
If you're wondering about the modern illustrated copy of the novel by Matt Kish which is also featured in this video, it was released in 2013 from Tin House Books. And it's awesome.

Beyond encouraging me to document my own collection, it is really a response to a need I encountered when I was shopping for used books. Often I was going in pretty blind when it came to a book’s contents, especially if it was no longer featured on the publisher’s website. I’m curious - which edition of Heart of Darkness appeals to you more now that you’ve seen both?

I hate to do this to your wallet but you should checkout Suntup Editions. A big step above Folio Society, for a somewhat reasonable price.

@@mintistic7972 I took a long covetous look at their edition of The Handmaid's Tale…then I chickened out at check-out. I was even closer to pulling the trigger on their Slaughterhouse-Five. But the price scared me off again at the last second. The dollar conversion and shipping to Canada makes it tough - and I still regret my hesitations on both counts. Beautiful books, but right now they sit a little above my means…but someday I’d sure like to explore one of Suntup’s amazing releases!
