The Mystery of The Sleeping Girl of Turville

Ellen Sadler was a young 12 year old girl living in the sleepy village of Turville in Buckinghamshire , when one day she went up to bed fell asleep and didn’t wake up for 9 years , she became something of a celebrity, even the prince of wales the future King Edward vii came to see her ,the donations started to roll in and the rumours started , was she sleeping or was she being drugged by her mother ?
Most of the information I have used in this story was from a story told by Ellen’s great niece Nell Rose so thank you to her

What a fascinating and odd story. The mother certainly had something to do with her daughters "sleeping".

So odd and suspicious that she ‘slept’ for nine years but awoke five months after the death of her mother. Sounds like poisoning to this true crime gal! No way mom was letting people take her hair without complicity.

Hi Beth I totally agree ! I don’t know how the mother did it , but she kept her asleep ( in my opinion ) Basil was amazing and I’m pleased that True crime puss approves because puss is a superstar ! I noticed the corner of the building too , but here in Britain there are so many bowed, leaning, and crooked houses you tend to ignore them 🤣🤣
