    2:05 - You can raise this by yourself by placing a third stand in between them, then raise the third stand so that it pushes the entire goal post upwards and tighten at desired height. Now tighten the end goal posts and remove the third stand (this does take a bit of strength to do though).

    I will never regret subscribing to your channel. Even if things do not seem so practial for me right now in terms of doing some of these builds. It's a beautiful thing to know. Thank you again Dave!

    Just found your channel today and am super glad I did. I am a dp and am always looking to learn grip stuff to better communicate with the gaffers I work with. I also take away setups that I can use for certain lighting situations. Love the way you guys break down these videos in a simple, easy to understand fashion.

    Hey Dave, love your channel. Thanks for showing us the goal post rig. I would love to see more rigging with speed rail. I love seeing setups that get posted on griprigs and the most interesting ones to me are the crazy speed rail contraptions- particularly the car rigs. Just my two cents; thanks for another great episode!

    You focus on stuff we should be able to do, but, in my case, would take a lot of hit and miss to get right. Thanks for being focused and brief.

    What kind of clamp would you use to rig a camera or a light to this rig? Preferably something with a 3/8 inch thread. It can be heard to search for what you need if you don't know the exact terminology for it. Thanks!

    • @GripTips
      @GripTips  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So for a light you’d use either a “grid clamp” with a junior reciever or a baby pin depending on the light. For a camera? You’d use a “cheese plate” with 3/8” grid clamps. Then bolt the clamps to the cheese plate. Done ☺️. Whichever you use, always add a safety chain just in case. And in the case of camera, safety chain or use webbing daisy chain the camera to the plate. And then regular safety chain the plate to the speed rail.

    One person could also lay the entire goal post on its side while adjusting the height. Not the smoothest, but possible.

    Love your channel, keep up the great work!! Just an idea, is it possible for you to include links to the equipment pieces you're using in your videos? Especially if you're an affiliate with any companies that sell the equipment you're using. If it's too troublesome that's totally understandable!

    I don't know if this is safe, but I've seen it done a few times. Instead of using the pipe sleeve in the center, use the fulcrum point of a menace arm kit, then ratchet to both ends of the goal post. It seemed to help prevent bowing. Have you done this before/would you recommend it?

    • @GripTips
      @GripTips  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Symeon Platts that’s a t-bone, the stand is holding the post to the menace arm right in the middle right?

    Can I use cardellini instead of big ben clamp?

    • @GripTips

      I wouldn’t recommend it. I could see it working but in just a safety perspective I think you should stick to a Big Ben

    Is there a method or parts recommended to use C stands instead of combo stands?

    • @GripTips
      @GripTips  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That all depends what pin you're using. Baby or Junior. Juniors work with combos, baby's work with c-stands

    What's the general limit for goal posts?
    2x 10' with a coupler? What's the most you've seen & with what load.

    • @GripTips
      @GripTips  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One 20-ft rail, 4 tweenies and a blue screen. Wasn’t much

    • @JeffLocke1
      @JeffLocke1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The limit is usually the load limit of the stands themselves, multiplied by the number of stands.
      Hey Dave!! Nice to see you posting again!

    • @GripTips
      @GripTips  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff Locke hey Jeff, smooches.

    • @ModernMotionSeattle
      @ModernMotionSeattle 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with Jeff, it's the load limit the stands are rated for more so than the speed rail. You can also put a cardellini on the riser of the stand to act as a safety should the stand's brake start to slip it won't be able to fall as the cardellini will prevent it from sliding. Hard to explain in a comment, maybe Dave can show this technique sometime.
