- I've been writing songs lately for fun; it keeps me consistent with practicing guitar and has been a nice creative outlet. This one turned out kind of cute!
I definitely felt lost a lot earlier in my college years, and while I know we never "figure it all out," I hope this song captures some of the (oh so stereotypical) feelings of losing and finding direction in life.
PS not the best guitarist or singer, but hope you enjoy! 🙂
JUST GROW UP
Since I turned 18
All of my IDs read
I know what to be
What I think
And all of my dreams
So clearly,
So don’t look closer at the card,
My age might be a real alarm
To you, can’t
play this part.
I’ve got a mind that’s so unsure
Of everything I’ve thought before
Like a kid lost in
The biggest store
I’m wishing that I would just grow up
Get a real job become someone,
Finally pick what I will be,
And finish university,
Maybe I should settle down,
Make up my mind and buy a house,
Learn to come on time
‘cause it feels like I’m so behind in life
Pictures have their way
Of saying you’re overaged
For games you like to
Play - what will you say when
Family asks what you’ve done of late
So don’t go looking up my name
Or scrolling through my Facebook
page, maybe someday
I’ll make an update, make a post
Something friends would like to know,
Have some real news to show,
I’m wishing that I would just grow up
Get a real job, become someone,
Finally learn, a, skill or trade
That makes me feel my job is safe.
Maybe I should settle down,
Make up my mind and buy a house,
Learn to come on time
‘cause I feel like I’m so behind in Life
My mind is so unsure
Of everything I’ve thought before,
Maybe I’ll feel my age,
With a longer
Resume
I’m wishing that I would just grow up
Get a real job, become someone
Finally finish this degree
Cause it feels like eternity.
Maybe I should settle down,
Make up my mind, figure it out,
Go to bed on time
And quit this endless whining about life.
