    Great video, just to clarify though, the HS is technically one class above the MG ZS, I wouldn’t think the size is the same. In other parts of the world, petrol powered ZS competes with cars like the Honda HR-V, Kia Stonic and Seat Arona while HS competes with larger SUVS like Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage and Seat Ateca.
    For the price though, I feel it’s a definite will buy.

    These sgcarmart reviews. Rave about the features etc, but being the main automotive platform in sg, perhaps can also comment on the reliability of cars from the brands over the years, and aftersales service?

    • @LeeKimSung
      @LeeKimSung 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For a brand that is less famous as family car, after sale service and long term reliability are more crucial than what have mentioned on its premium interior quality. I do not want to worry about car that have no option but to send back to agent and pay high cost parts and services even though I pay less initially.

    Test drove this.. went with a skeptical MIC mindset but the interior was WOW! Really opened up my mind. Very luxurious. Quiet and gear kicks seamlessly..spacious as well. Im 1.8m and my current drive is a 2.0 Mit ASX so i would like something similar and 1.5 turbo with 160bhp its very nicely priced. Additional warranty applies at 3+2 and yes.. Eurokars a trusted brand. Very tempted... i did the "Go Try" part... now deciding if i "will buy".

    After gone for a test drive, below is my comments to consider before buying this car.
    The DCT transmission it has is not smooth during moving off, moderate acceleration and heavy acceleration as well.
    The fuel consumption is high.
    Brakes are spongy, need additional S$3k for BBK upgrade
    Touch screen some lag
    Other than for all this flaws, if the selling price comes with 5yr warranty with included solar film and cameras, it will be a good deal.

      Its basically just another level of sport mode above the sport mode, i.e. more of the same like holding on the gears longer before upshifting, tightening the steering, etc. Not really a fan of such things to be honest cos of fuel consumption. I would rather change to forged rims.

  • @fuzzylogic888
    @fuzzylogic888 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I think the 2 obstacles MG has to overcome to putting more cars on the road here is the stigma of being made in China and its price cutting too close to some of the more established makes. Undoubtedly it is well equipped but for most, it will still be a gamble. Resale value would likely be quite poor as well. A longer warranty would help allay reliability concerns as the car only comes with a 3 year 100k km warranty. Even more established brands like Honda and Kia provide 5 year unlimited mileage warranties. Actually in overseas markets like Australia, MG offers a 7 year unlimited mileage warranty.

    • @jameseltan
      @jameseltan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So are Volvos and even iPhones. And both aint't cheap. Agree on the warranty, it's odd that in all other countries they have the 7 yr warranty but not us. But to be fair, it think this is the authorised dealer's issue, not MG's.

    • @LeeKimSung

      @@jameseltan The year of warranty is an issue.

    • @LeeKimSung
      @LeeKimSung 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jameseltan The years of warranty is an issue. Mileage in Singapore is comparatively much lower than country like Australia and yet only offer 3 years warranty. I kind of worry that parts and services will be high after 3 years hence the business model is selling at lower price initially and charge higher later when your send in for services. I have experience a few years ago on Opel car (not current agent) where I was charged $1000 for window when my trusted mechanic told me that only 1 screw need to be replaced but agent insisted only the entire window parts can be sold - end up I have the window fixed without buying parts from agent but it can’t be wind down any more and I have 2 windows in that conditions.

      Toyota and Honda have some of their cars made in Thailand. Audi has some models made in Slovakia.
      We don’t see people avoiding these brands just because of who owns them, or where they are made in.
      MG is designed in England, and assembled in China, Shanghai.
      I just ordered my MG HS, and it came with a 5-year warranty during the promotion last weekend. A friend commented after sitting in my test drive that other brands’ SUVs are going to have a hard time selling. Given how much more you are getting out of the MG HS.

      If Eurokars take in this brand then don’t have to worry about anything unnecessarily.

      Even at the cheapest trim, the KICKS has less 33hp and cost $1k more than the HS. At its highest trim, it costs $7k more than the HS and still has significantly less equipment and features, eg. no panaromic sunroof, no electric seats at all, torsion beam rear suspension, etc. And oh, it's tiny.

      @seanhjy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      the differences are tiny fair enough it’s small, but how often would you use the sunroof in Singapore? But the economy was not mentioned in this video and i bet the Kicks can go way more on one tank of fuel whilst providing enjoyment too. no hate to the mg HS at all

    • @seanhjy
      @seanhjy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      and the HS weights 200kg more too

      No hate to Kicks either. In fact it was on top in my buy list (together with Kia Stonic which is even cheaper) hence lots of comparison was done before i decided on the HS. The 200kg more is because it is a significantly larger car. And it's actually nice to drive around with the panaromic roof (closed but shade open) makes the interior livelier and more spacious/open. And electric seats are quite a significant feature to me and is the non-torsion rear suspension. The Kicks is probably the best looking on the outside but the interior looks rather budget and for me even the cheaper Stonic has a nice interior. Given that we spend more time looking at the inside of the car than the outside of it, interior is always more important to me.

      Oh you bought the HS I see... true enough the Kicks’s design is nice with the X-Trail like brake lights on the rears with the big V-Motion grille. The interior from the dashboard side of things Nissan has done a good job, but the doors are really all plastic. Haven’t seen the Kicks in person yet but my guess as to the main reason why it is more expensive is because of the E-Power system instead of having the traditional ICE to power the car
