35 years ago, man I feel very very old, and the craziest part is I remember watching all of these as a 15 year old, thanks for posting.

I laughed at loud at the Kraft cheese ad. As a kid, I loved Kraft singles, but now I could never eat that plastic cheese again and my tastes have matured, haha. Thanks for sharing this!

"In the future, people may look with envy at the way we live today."
    Prophetic words.

Gawd, people are gonna lock back at that ridiculous situation and wonder wth was wrong with people back in those days. 🤣
What's even worse, is we started in Australia. And the rest of the world was foolish enough to even join in, proving that there really are far too many stupid people out there. 😜

0:59 from the days when advertisers fondly imagined we'd be using microwaves for anything more complicated than defrosting and reheating.

Even back then, most people weren't foolish enough to use a microwave to cook a whole chook or duck or whatever.
My mother only used ours for casseroles, deserts like bread and butter pudding, and as you said, reheating.

Back when Mars bars were 50c and were touted as “sustaining goodness” boasting “natural cane sugar”😏

It's worrying that a lot of the unhealthy foods like Mars bars, don't cost a whole lot more than they did back in '86.

Fun fact. Le Specs banned me from returning sunnies after my 6th pair broke. All were accidental breakages, too.

I'm doing a study on how people are treated and I'm searching for an ad that was played in Melbourne for the spastic society. It has a guy go into a store and ask for Sausage Rolls and Cappuccino. I have never seen it since the 80s.

    • @mebeme007

I still remember that commercial vividly.
If I'm not mistaken, the customer was a young man who had Down syndrome.
The one where the customer asks, "4 cappucinos, please"?
And the shop attendant rudely replied, "We don't serve those here."
And the customer replied, "But it says so up there."
I was probably in about Year 7 then, so around 1988, and I remember the boys in our class at school used to mock that ad and make fun of the way the poor guy spoke.
It used to make me so angry.
Anyways, I do hope you find it.

30:04 So, um... were furniture stores a popular hangout for Australian children in the 80s?

    • @Growndweller
      @Growndweller 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, because kids were much more easily pleased and creative back then.

Guessing it happened years ago in the original recording - from memory, pausing/recording on the target VHS player would result in this sort of thing, even if the original playback on-screen was perfect at the time (recalling the good old days of compiling my music video tapes, ha). I think the film ribbon itself ages too, even if not played.
