- I bow fish more than the average person. When my health is up I will fish 4-5 days or nights of the week. I shoot hundreds of pounds of carp and gar and have broken 4 reels this year alone. So, I decided to spend the extra money this time on a Mega Mouth reel. I did a side by side comparison of weight and size between the Mega Mouth, Muzzy, and Zebco 808 bow fishing reels.

Can't beat the zebco's for the price....I use a 404. (Smaller fish10-30lbs)on my bow....I like that $25-40 price point....lol!!💯👍......All in personal preference.....it's a nice reel...
which ones have the anti reverse feature?

Adam Stalsberg Thank you for that. I do miss the military and the brother hood. Now I take out as many of my veteran brothers bow fishing that I can. I want to get them off the couch and back to being productive, the way someone did for me.

Hello Friend. Congratulations on the healthy way you face the art of fishing ... Please, I use an Excalibur Exomax Crossbow 350fps with AMS Bowfishing Retriver and it works relatively well, but it is a lot of junk. Can Mega Mouth release the line at this speed? Thanks
Question for you both me and my cousin shoot the mega mouth and we’ve been having a problem where you shoot and the line brakes As if you didn’t push the (button) as on like the Mozzy but when we look at it everything looks good the line spoils out by hand just fine
I am super late on this reply. Sorry. My buddy and I had the same problem. We switched to muzzy line in our mega reals. We went through 4 spools of mega line and all 4 of them where week and breaking when we shot. Lost some expensive arrows.

Yes it is!!!! It took me 8 months, but I did manage to damage it. Hahaha i had the first model of reel that came out. Since that model they changed some things in the cast where the washer is in there. Anyway, I called Mega and mailed it to them like they said. From the time I stuck it in the mail to the time i was back on the boat at Barkley shooting silvers and big heads with it was only 7 days. Their warranty is awesome. It is hassle free. I was impressed. I have went thru maybe 4 spools of line already since then too. The reel is holding up magnificent. It was definitely worth my purchase. I have to tell you tho, I have had 2 spools of Mega line that I removed because the replacement lines were week and we were able to break it with our hands. I did tell them, but after losing a few arrows figuring it out...I don’t shoot there line now. Hahaha I also tried some pink line from amazon
...yuck, made my entire bow pink. Anyway,,,Monkey wire has been working fantastic in it. Sorry if I over babbled on here. Hahahaha

Jason Coffey there is so many ways to answer that one. I have used led, led with amber blinker tape, and hps. I will say hps rocks. Specially on Barkley in the murky water. Jason Coffey Did you ever get that bow boat built up to bow fish? We have been doing some awesome mods and such to our bow boats out here. You ready to hit the water yet???? If you need any help with your stuff let me know. We built an awesome set of work shops out here on my farm for me and my friends to be able to do boat mods. Weld shop and all. Im only about a 15 min drive from Gate 10. Just let me know!!!

Can I use a lighter line for bowfishing? 50 lbs?
Juan Antonio Rodríguez Durán You will have nothing but trouble with line that small. I would not use anything under 150lbs. Even with 200lbs Monkey wire that I use I still break my line here and there. Maybe if your bow poundage is turned down real low and you where shooting small shad, but the line does take a lot of abuse. I hope that helps.
