    We all love too fish & some hunt , but g. Whitmore & head of are dnr said they will lease out state land for solar panels plants first 400 acres & 4000 by spring , that's government over reach & illegal! , that be nich trout fishing are mich rivers & seeing that & solar panels do leak over time , os much for are drinking water & clean rivers , they where under oath too protect are land & waters & wildlife & wilderness areas & state game area s ? Your next fishing report could come from the ausable river or the manistee river on how many fish died because the solar panels leaked & leaked in too are rivers ! Get hold of your state government or state rep. Like Jay deboyer & your federal level now !

    You provide such value with these videos. I don't even ice fish. I'm a bass fisherman from KY who comes up a couple times a year but I love LSC and MI so much and I keep up with the lake and conditions all year. Thank you for posting these videos. Go Lions and God Bless!

      This early? This isn't early we used to have ice the 3rd week of December. 80's 90's early 2000's I was always fishing off the beach at Metro by Christmas.

      @wantsome-zs5sq Well you see, I wasn't alive back then 🤣 I'm only 26, but I've heard about how good the ice was back then, I'm jealous of those times

      @@rando6969 Winters aren't anything like they used to be. We haven't been getting any major snow storms either. We used to get storms that dumped 18 inches at a time. In 1991 we had two storms in one week. One dumped 18 inches the other dumped 16 inches. They had tractors on Gratiot to clear the snow. In 1998 we had a massive storm. Winter of 1994 we hit -15f with -70 wind chills.

    I think the best thing to remember is that no ice is "safe ice". Good luck out there folks.

    Thank you Justin!
    To the young and new ice anglers, invest in a float suit before you buy that new shanty.
    It’s starting to look like a great ice season this year. Be safe everyone and good luck!

    @nickcourt4735 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    Bring a spud, buy a float suit, and find out where the current flows. It's amazing how fast the current will eat the ice. It takes much longer to freeze up. Stay safe, tight lines!

    Thanks JC. Appreciate the update. Saves the drive and for that I am subscribed. lol. Old school here. If you’re under 125 proceed with caution. If over wait till someone says there’s at least 3 inches. Spud, spikes, cleats. All a must. Be safe yall!!!!

    First ice use the buddy system. Spud every step. Ice is setting up nice. Checked fairhaven yesterday. Ice at shore was 2 inches and soft but 3.5 of hard ice 50 yards out. If your not comfortable wait a few days.

    I've gone thru the ice for over 35 years it never gets any better... It WILL happen, so all you can do is have the right safety gear on you, not in your sled or a buddy's.... ON YOU ..... Ice picks, ice cleats, float suit, my dad always told me to use your spud bar to check the ice anything less than 3 hard hits and it starts to leak, back up.Also when your not chipping/ checking your way out or in, carry the spud bar in the middle and at your side so that it's flat to the ice, doing this saved me when I found a spearing hole that was snowed over I fell thru and the spud bar stopped me from going all the way under. Always listen to your gut feeling it's their for a reason. But just like ANYTHING ELSE IN LIFE you can die doing something that you love, so be mindful of that. Good luck this year and hope ya don't get to wet, learn a thing or three about learning to read the ice you should be fine.

    Hey young guys. When you're out on less than 4"" of ice. Use your spud carefully . Don't try to hammer it through, go easy, see how the ice reacts.
