I went to do a day for the BBC show Have I Got News For You, which is filmed right next to The Graham Norton Show, both BBC but outside the building has a huge ITV sign.. so I’m guessing they film in an ITV studio.
Ever noticed how the people who come 2nd place do better than whoever comes first? That's because if you win you get tied into a contract with no creative control or ownership over your own work. I know a lot of musicians that go on these programmes just for the exposure without giving a shit about winning.
I would assume that the people who win are always the underdog and are just very regular people that happen to have a decent-ish voice and NOT 'star talent', Sam Bailey for example... The runners up are always the more naturally talented but with less of a rags to riches narrative that the public are invested in
*Olly murs* came second in x factor I think 2009? And is bigger then the actual winner, I haven't even heard anything about the 2009 x factor winner since then but I hear everything about olly murs 😂😂
@@LucaMalaspinaBeats I imagine it's also something to do with the type of audiences that are watching and voting on x factor and shit like that are very different to the type of people streaming songs on iTunes. Altho now adays basically no one watched x factor anyway

Sounds like a typical scenario of producers/ higher ups taking the piss of people auditioning/interviewees making them do stupid shit. Happens in a lot of industries.

Friend of mine went on The Voice and to the bit where they do duos and shit. She said it was all really fake. Like coming off stage and hugging your friend, they made her do it 2 more times for another angle.

It’s the same for BGT you go through 2 or 3 auditions before you get to the judges

I used to take singing lessons and my teacher used to say if I didnt feel tired after singing a song, I had talked, not sung! So I get it, they wanted you to engage more muscles and really just go for it x

can’t have been to many auditions. there’s farrrrr weirder stuff that happens than that. they do it to just test how you operate under change and under certain situations.

Literally all talent shows have been like this in the last decade or so. Certain people being funneled through from talent agents, producers etc. Having these preliminary rounds, with a couple of producers picking you from a crowd for whatever reason. It's all smoke and mirrors. The final shows aren't fake, but all the crap you watch on TV where 75 year old Joe Bloggs walks off the street in his pink stetson and chaps and sings ABBA, before the absolute "star child" appears from the same street and gets a standing ovation is all crap. I've known quite a few people that have been contacted by certain producers to turn up to these screenings, in which the carefully selected acts are messed with and coached on how to sell their story, and other talented people are discarded. Then you're invited to one of the televised shows. They discard so many talented people (even people that work in the west end professionally), then have grandma Sally playing the spoons on TV to make everyone laugh and get views.

i had a mate who's band did pretty well on x factor, they tried to sign up the previous year and where told "we've already picked the winners this year, so please sign up for next year" i think they got to the semi final in the end
