Every team has their own team broadcast with home commentators. However, there are neutral commentators when the game is nationally televised such as games on ABC, ESPN, and TNT

And the best commentator for the nationally televised games is the home broadcaster for the Knicks; Mike Breen!

Played against Shannon Brown in high school when he played at Proviso East in our conference just outside Chicago. And his teammate? The great Dee Brown. The outcome? We pulled an upset on a last second 3 pointer. Hinsdale South for the win! But seriously, he was that dude. He could jump out of the gym for real!

Each team has a broadcast crew for local games. Nationwide coverage is from the station

Each team has their own commentator duo for games. In Los Angeles, for example, there is two guys (together) for the television and two for the radio (also together...one is the 'color' guy who adds pieces of information like stats, etc. and the other is the 'play-by-play' guy). That's for when the game is only on the local television network. So if it's Los Angeles vs. New York and it's not nationally broadcast you will have both teams with their own commentators giving commentary that is run on each team's local channel in Los Angeles and in New York. There are also nationally broadcast games that get broadcast across the whole country and those big networks have their own guys they use for the games regardless of which teams are playing. In regards to radio, each team will have their own radio guys and those guys do every single game regardless of it being home or away and regardless of whatever is happening with how the game is being aired on television, either locally or nationally.

Their are national commentators for ESPN, TNT, CBS and so on. And then each team has their own commentators for locally broadcast games.

The commentator does depend on the channel but the NBA is played on multiple channels and game that is not on national tv is on local tv with local broadcasters. For example, the LA lakers had the legendary Chick Hearn as their local tv announcer. So some games would only be on local los Angeles tv and Chick Hearn would be the commentator. But when the Lakers played on a national game on NBC or on TNT the announcer would be from that network.

Every team in every sport from Junior High School to Professional league have their own team announcer. Usually, there will be a television broadcast team and a radio broadcast team. When you hear commentators going really crazy over plays, its because its the team's commentator. Hired by the team.

The Knicks have the best NBA commentators. Mike Breen and Walt Clyde Frazier are the best in the game.

Agreed. No idea why he thinks the Hornets ones are good they're acitng like a bunch of 12 year olds. But then again he's a young dude.

The best commentator is Walt Clyde Frazier because not only is he in the hall of fame as a Knick, he rhymes throughout the game with weird vocabulary and has the most audacious suits that only a tall black man could get away with.
Bill Walton is funny too but only because he is so annoying and goes off on tangents constantly throughout the game, and his co-host constantly ripping on him and pissed off that he's sitting next to him. He will find a way to mention The Grateful Dead in almost any game.

Yes every team has their own TV rights with individual channels and the really big matchups are on national TV: ESPN, ABC, NBATV, etc. The Charlotte Hornets announcer is easily the most entertaining, it’s just a shame the team is shite lol
