you guys are rude.. maybe if you were patient and went step by step you would see he is thorough and giving step by step to people who might have no idea about firmware for lenses...
I have a Sigma 60/600mm Sport Lens. It is not clear from the USB Dock software what DISTANCE I should be using at each focal length when calibrating the autofocus. The first mark shows a range of 0.6 to 2.6 metres - is the distance critical?
I'm having trouble with my dock. The program crashed and unplugging my lens after 2 hours without any update , the opening of my lens is at 0 and says that an error occurred while updating . What to do?
great video. Quick question what distance should you set your camera to measure infinity value ? 3?, 5 meters ? but how can you focus on your chart from so far away? I have a sigma 35mm. art.
I just bought this dock for my Sigma 20mm f1.4 ART (Nikon) after being very impressed with the image quality of my 35 f1.4.. Autofocus is all over the place on my D750, sadly. Especially with the new 20mm f1.4. So I expected to get things sorted out with the dock. Now, when I go to the AF adjustment, I have 4 red stripes, place on a focus scale. These are the points where I can higher or lower a value between -20 & +20. But mine are not place on numbers (distances) at all, but randomly between values. It's just all guessing. The scale isn't even the same as the one on the lens. Numbers are a lot closer together on the lens. Now I have to guess where the red stripe is between 0.4 & 0.6m. It's about 60% halfway between both values, but the scale is obviously not linear, because the same space between 0.4m & 0.6m is four times the space between 0.6m en the next value on the screen: 1m. And directly after 1m there is infinity. So how can I "read" the distance of the red stripe and apply it to my camera/lens calibration settup, if I can't even guess it right from my pc screen ? How am I going to calibrate this lens? Why did they not take some fixed values to measure and input? For example, minimum focus distance, 0.5m, 2m, 10m and infinity? So frustrating. Any help is welcome.
LS_scape hey did you figure out? I want to get that lens but I hear the autofocus for video is horrible 20mm since like a perfect lens for me and is kinda suck that people have to deal with this shit !!
My sigma 30mm F1.4 Art lens is not compatible with my nikon 5600, it does not allow me to autofocus. But it work in d5500 old model. So need to buy the dock for firmware updating, then can I achieve that autofocus?
Great video but one issue i have... After using the dock for the very first time (updating the firmware and doing nothing else) I had no idea how to properly "shut down" or turn off the dock safely from my lens. Simply disconnecting the dock from the lens - as you described- could severely damage the lens. I'd hate to end up rendering my lens as a useless paper weight! Thanks!
I have a question around my head, pls help me to sort it out. If I'm using MC-11 on my Sony a6500, do I have to worry about the focus point shift problem? Pls
Just go to Sigma's website depending on your country, go to support and download it. If you already have the dock (the only reason you'd want the software) then plug it in. It will check to see if you've got the latest software and go to the link automatically and download automatically.
What really annoys me with the software is that there is a slider showing + and - ...... + and - what? Why isn't there a measure in millimeters/centimeters or inches?
No, it only works with the latest global design lenses, like the Art, Contemporary or Sport. If you've got an old 70-300 DG you'll need to send it in. Contact Sigma first to make sure they still support it moving forward. I believe they do as the lens is still sold. I had one and gave it away to a friend recently.
+Youssef Abdelwahab yeah, you definitely need the one that comes with the dock because it's NOT an ordinary micro USB (like for Android phones). Any chance you bought a dock that was returned and whoever bought it before kept it?
For a professional photographer you sure chimp a lot. I also love the fact you hand held with the Sigma .. and we see lots of landscape / night seen. What's hilarious is that the ISO is such sh*t on all Sigma sensors, there is no way possible to get those shots w/o shooting on a tripod, or massive editing to get rid of high-ISO artifacts you always get with these sensors. If not .... you are a master, we all must bow down.
The autofocus does work. You might want to familiarise yourself with terms "front focusing" and "back focusing". This issue is with all DSLR's with mirror, regardless of brand. Ask any professional photographer and they know this.
at Sigma Lens you need extra docking hardware to update the software of your lenses and for every mount a special dock too 😂😂😂 you really? your lens cant be updated over the camera and need EXPENSIVE special equipment 🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮
good video, easy to learn and watch. thank you for continued Sigma Support

OK WHY do I need this usb device. I'm confused about the whole USB thing. Will it improve the quality of the lens etc.

Well, we now know how to connect it to the lens but what's next...hardly a detailed description...??
theres multiple videos... hence the title... volume 1...

Bonjour est on obligé d'avoir l'USB Dock pour faire une mise à jour où y a t'il un autre moyen? Merci

Be great if you could put a link to where to download the software

Real helpful.

question, i am a nikon shooter with 2 sigman lenses. my camera and lenses were calibrated from local dealer. Do i need still need this sigma dock?
Yeah because eventually your lenses will fall out of focus :-| Even then, you can only cross your fingers that the dock does what it's supposed to do.
Will this work on all sigma lenses I have a 70-300 dg witch needs a firmware up date so I can use a d5500

What USB connection do I need? (Micro, mini, etc?)
It comes with a cable
Ken Cheng mine didn't come with one :( i guess i got robbed

How do i get the dock work under linux?
I can't download the software!!!! I can download everything on other sites, thus my firewall and virus programs should not be a problem...
I can't download the software
Nem derül ki a videóból mit hová kell állítani,.
This is ridiculous! When I buy an expensive lens I EXPECT the autofocus to work. And this tutorial is senseless!
calibration to any lens is normal.... if anything this makes it a bit easier.

Did this guy get acting lessons from William Shatner?
100% useless video - wasted 3 min
I agree!
Music in the video is very distracting
so, how to use that software? lol this is 100% useless
