- Olinsky turns up to a treacherous warehouse fire begging Bodden to search for his daughter.
Season 5 Episode 15 "Deathtrap"
51 responds to an out of control warehouse fire with dozens of victims inside. The team races against time to try and save them all. One of the victims is Alvin Olinsky's (guest star Elias Koteas) daughter Lexi who was found in critical condition. Later on, 51 joins forces with Hank Voight (guest star Jason Beghe) and the police department when they discover that the fire was intentionally set. Also, Severide tries to get in contact with Anna.

With all the bushfires here in aus right now, it makes me appreciate firefighters so much more

Chicago Fire is based on real life stories from real firefighters
They use real life events that occurred decades ago as the ideas for the scripts that at the time would have been considered fire(s) of the decade, or huge fires in the history of different places , or huge events that happened to the real Chicago fire department at some point.

Heavy casualties. So many people killed and injured in that one fire. How someone can start a fire like that, with the intent of causing bodily harm or even death, is more than I can comprehend. Poor Alvin and every single person who lost someone in that fire.

@@cupcake5309 Even if this is a show, sadly these things happened. 1998 it happened here in Sweden in the city Gotemburg pretty similar to this where some people who were refused entry set fire on a rave. 63 youbgsters died and many injured.
Seeing all those people (although they are fictional characters) on the footpath it’s really sad! Things like that happen and all we can do is count on the firefighters 😔
This just shows how flipping amazing all these people are.

What I love is the leadership Boden shows: he pulls his people when it gets too dangerous, but doesn't think twice about going in himself. Also Casey who clearly wants to rush in and help and yet shows restrain and focuses on protecting the others when Herman wants to run inside and help.

In my yrs Middle school , my math teacher lost his both kids in the fire. He went back to get them after he save his wife but he couldnt save them n he got burned too.. Its was 20 yr ago.

I live in south of Brazil, and something like this happened in my state a couple years ago. A fire start at a club and a lot of young people didn't make it, it was terrible. This reminded me so much of that day :/

Also that last scene is giving some thoughts about the big fire at a discotec in Göteborg Sweden 29 of October 1998 where 63 young peolpe perished and 214 injured, many for life. And that just becuase some punks didn't get free entry and wanted revenge by setting the building on fire.
This episode is actually partially based on a real life story. The Oakland warehouse/Ghost Ship fire was a warehouse that was being used by artists as a creative and living space although it was not designed for it, on the night of the fire a large concert was being held which led to chaos and disaster when a fire broke out and there wasn't any fire prevention methods installed (well marked exits, sprinklers, fire extinguishers)

Thank you for saying that! I honestly don’t understand why people are so fixated on the fact that Jesse Spencer was doctor Chase in House M.D. Therefore, they seem surprised or shocked that he’s cast as Matthew Casey on Chicago Fire, House isn’t the only show he was on.
To be fair the only adjustment I had to make was getting used to him speaking in an American accent :D
I’ve only heard him talk in an American accent. To be completely honest, I’ve never watched House and I don’t know how good it is 🤷♀️ even though I watch other medical shows like 24 hours in A&E, Casualty, Holby City, Grey’s Anatomy and Chicago Med.
