Hi Terry, first and foremost great content as always, long times listener! As an Arsenal fan I constantly listen to the parallels that got lobbied between Arteta and ETH, but I think that football fans in general miss the whole point with the Man U situation. The biggest problem at the club at the moment is the culture, there’s no leadership both off and on the pitch which makes it hard to build a winning culture. Now I know Man U have won more than Arsenal over the last 5 years the squad is a very talented one and talent can show up from time to time but we all know hard work beats talent if the talent doesn’t work hard. The next manager needs to come in and be clear about the issues and needs to communicate out loud and in public what they are and inform the world that there’s going to be changes and uncomfortable moments. They need to look at every player over 25 as expendable if they don’t fit in coz the phase has to be a 5 year project focused on youth and at the end of those 5 years those players aged 25 now will be 30. The board of directors need to higher whoever comes in and lays the law down and highlights these points and they need to back him to the hilt when he says get rid of this player. The current dynamics show the power is with the players not the manager. If you go back and watch Arteta’s first interview again when he got the job you will find this is exactly how Arsenal done it. Your transfer strategy and players you require and want will become clearer. Rashford, Shaw, Maguire, Fernandez, Onana etc all need to go/phased out they won’t make it to the end of the 5 year project, plan for it now as those are the positions to replace. Part of this comes down to the fact that ETH had an impossible task when after the summer. Unless he was perfect from the the start of this season and anything less was going to have people looking for him to be sacked. Hi Terry, first and foremost great content as always, long times listener! As an Arsenal fan I constantly listen to the parallels that got lobbied between Arteta and ETH, but I think that football fans in general miss the whole point with the Man U situation. The biggest problem at the club at the moment is the culture, there’s no leadership both off and on the pitch which makes it hard to build a winning culture. Now I know Man U have won more than Arsenal over the last 5 years the squad is a very talented one and talent can show up from time to time but we all know hard work beats talent if the talent doesn’t work hard. The next manager needs to come in and be clear about the issues and needs to communicate out loud and in public what they are and inform the world that there’s going to be changes and uncomfortable moments. They need to look at every player over 25 as expendable if they don’t fit in coz the phase has to be a 5 year project focused on youth and at the end of those 5 years those players aged 25 now will be 30. The board of directors need to higher whoever comes in and lays the law down and highlights these points and they need to back him to the hilt when he says get rid of this player. The current dynamics show the power is with the players not the manager. If you go back and watch Arteta’s first interview again when he got the job you will find this is exactly how Arsenal done it. Your transfer strategy and players you require and want will become clearer. Rashford, Shaw, Maguire, Fernandez, Onana etc all need to go/phased out they won’t make it to the end of the 5 year project, plan for it now as those are the positions to replace. I can cite a simple example here Dalot, Rashford and Bruno are all in their mid or late 20s, it is hard to coach a completely alien football philosophy to them at this age, this is the reason they misplace passes under a high press, take heavy touches, over hit or under hit passes.

Dalot, Casemiro and Bruno were not INEOS recruits and are holding key positions in Ten Hag's system, at Ajax these positions were occupied by De Jong, Van De Beek and Tagliafico.

Part of this comes down to the fact that ETH had an impossible task when after the summer. Unless he was perfect from the the start of this season and anything less was going to have people looking for him to be sacked. People were literally saying his job was on the line against Fulham, after pre-season games.
