If we look at the other side of the movie which is Andrew's is point of view toh kisi person sahi mai pagal sabit b kar sakte h is tarah se planning kar k. Kyoki jab kisi ko tik karne k liye itna kuch plann kiya ja sakta h toh pagal karne k liye b kiya ja sakta h.
Planning/procedure is same for declaring a person insane and not insane. Its only the intention of the doctors k vo andrew ko tik karna chahte they rather then declaring him mentally ill.

This film reminds me film 404:error not found ... It is also a physiologically based.. you perfectly explained the ending .. in this film experiment didn't fail.. he wanted to kill Andrew at any cost..

The lady he met on the rock cave explained him about lobotomizing process and as she was imaginary... That means Andrew was aware of being bolotomised but he wanted to give himself a chance to accept the reality and to find if he can live peacefully after that.. And he succeeded in this but finally he decided to go with bolotomisation which proves that he already knew about doctors and all the incidents going around him... But he couldn't controll on imaginations.. That was his weakness.... Which made this too difficult to decode further. One thing i can say that he was not just a patient but also he had been helping himself along with doctors to get out of his regret..... Actually he never had been fooled by doctors.... He done that knowingly... And he won.... That's my analysis mam..

Reality - Leonardo was not any mental patient at all .The whole island was taught to shut their mouth and just do acting.
-In the starting of movie, an old lady shows shutting her mouth and doing SSHHHHH.... Because she was taught to do acting.
- one mad lady writes "RUN" on Leonardo's notebook. She was helping him that is why she wanted him to leave that island.
-Richell (in the cave) already told Leonardo that nobody is his friend and all are doing acting.

I got the story in first go .. itself and it became my one of the fav suspense thriller movie which I always recommend to other who also like this genre.....and yes ..he was stable at the end ,he got the reality ...but he was confused which path to choose ...to remember what had happened to his family and live his whole life with sorrow and regret or to do the test and forget the past .

Commonly movie ends to give something to the audience to think about. I observed one thing that Marshal can save those people who were killed brutally by the gun shots. That scene was too horrible and truamatic than the killing of three kids. Andrew felt more about them as they were his kids but what about those people who were killed like..... He was remembering those people too ice buried and cold weather behind the thorny mettle wires looking with hope at the soldiers to save them. His own daughter's dialogue symbolize "you could save us". A soldier has both the powers (save or shoot). What he had been doing occured in his life that made him a victim. "You will reap what you have sowed"

I think movie mein ek real marshal hota hai ..he went to a island ...waha wo ek case ka investigation krta hai ...waha uske saath ek partner hota hai jo pahle se hi mila hota hai un doctors se ..doctors have a purpose to add a 67th patient ..wo log usse mentally design krte hain ...they added drugs to his diet and ...wo jo bhi usse malum chalta hai us den mein wo sb sach hota hai ...but as she said ki drug jld hi aasar karega ...jb Leonardo DiCaprio lighthouse jata hai ..waha pe doctors usse kahani bataate hain ..aaur. ...us drug ki wajah se Leonardo wo kahani maan leta hai aur ...at last wo us fake story ko hi reality maan leta hai .....and becomes the 67th patient on shutter island ....
..bhailog aisa mereko lgta hai. ..ho skta hai sahi n ho but ...es najariye se movie dekho to mujhe nhi lagta tumhe kuch contradict karega.

I watched this movie 8 years back when I was in hostel and that night I was stoned.. 😂😂😂 I didn't get a thing back then.. I thought it was because I was not sober.. but then I watched it again yesterday and thought even in normal condition I was feeling high.. But at last I got it🤩🤩 Incredible movie.. Hats off🙏❤️

I also had the same thought about the ending of the movie. He just didn't want to live with the crimes he had done. Experiment was successful but andrew refused to stay as andrew. He rather wanted to be a better person instead of living his whole life by the ne of andrew (who killed his own wife)
