are you kiddin', Listen to someone that actually has good timing such as his namesake Machine Gun Kelly or Jack Armstrong. Shotz is a Wolfman/Don Steele tribute jock.
Woow, I LOVE it! Play it all over again. Really appreciate how the one and only Shotgun Tom Kelly does a bit more on the radio than just calling the station name and the song. I am really afraid of the extinction of this kind of radio. A real legend! :) Greetings from the Netherlands.
Couldn't agree with you more. Sadly, there aren't the visionary programmers in a position to encourage and cultivate this type of talent any longer. At least guys of the caliber of Tom are still at it. Thank Heaven.
Shotgun Tom Kelly was "The Master" at KEARTH. Loved hearing his "up attitude". Got a lot of us through working in the warehouse, in our college days. We all talked with your rhymes that got us through the night.
Man I miss the old K-EARTH 101... playing the old 50-70s. Takes me back to teenage years working at the Renee’s mufflers shop back in el sereno and Lincoln heights Los Angeles CA.
I remember this particular broadcast distinctly. Man, those were them days. K-earth will never be as good as it once was (especially now with the bloody 90s at 9; with Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch!)
Absolutely one of the best. And he really enjoyed what he was doing as this video shows. When he hits that post exactly he knows it! Too bad radio has become so bland comparitively today.
I did radio for 5 years. This guy is a pro - he makes it look so easy! This kind of radio ... REAL radio ... will never return. Today, it's mostly low-wage work, conformity and automation using voice tracks [pre-recorded DJ links]. The timing can now always be tight, but alas, there is little personality. RIP the radio DJ!
Shotgun Tom.....One of the absolute best in the business. Rumor has it that he will be heard now on Siruis XM 60's on 6. (Maybe he can convince them to expand their playlist back to the days when it was just XM Satellite Radio) Either way.....can't wait to hear him back on the radio! First Cousin Brucie & now Shotgun Tom.
Truly miss the old K-Earth. Just not the same now that they play all 80s and 90s. I know...different demographic. But so many 60s and 70s songs are timeless. So, back to Sixties on Six.
I remeber this specific broadcast. I also remember first time I heard Parliament's (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker) Give Up The Funk; it was on this station, circa 2008. Oh, the glory days, how quickly they seem to vanish.
I will never forget the first time I heard Shotgun on KRTH. Jay Koffee who was in the evenings replaced The Real Don Steele for a period of time during the 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM time slot. Thn Shotgun arrived, and someone can correct me if I am wrong. I think Jay returned to the evenings and was replaced by Christina Kelly. Glad to see Shotgun is on Sirius 60's station.
I work in radio and sadly, very sadly, I don't think we'll ever see guys like this again...part of a disappearing breed. Personality has been replaced by "more music, less talk" on most stations everywhere. which is really a joke, because most of the ultra-talented guys like this proved that you could still be a personality w/out really talking a lot.
I miss the old KRTH 101! Who's bright idea was it to change the format? They really fouled things up!! Thank goodness, for SiriusXM because people can still hear Shotgun Tom on 60's On 6
I was in the merchant navy in the 70s and we called in at port of long beach at least ones or twice a month with bananas, anyway Kearth on the radio always ........
Why did KRTH let go of their best announcers like Shotgun ? I realize Charlie Tuna passed away, but why cut all the other DJs if the station is successful ?
whenever i ride in my car nobodys ever allowed to sit in passanger seat. its reserved for Shotgun Tom Kelly!! haha just playin, but krth rules my world!!!
This man, being I live in the mid south of the country, I had never heard of until tonight, but I have known who K-Earth was for over 20 years now. This man here has talent, something that today's radio lacks. Today, even if the station is using live talent, their talent sounds horrible than what comes from today's college radio station. A jock in radio must have personality, be on top of the past, present & future's events. The PC killed the radio star, not MTV!
What’s more bad it’s the totally 80s which they are fine but overplay the same thing which bores you out after a while! Maybe bring back the 70s at 7! Soon the 70s will disappear from k earth and will be 80s 90s and 00s
What If Shotgun Tom Kelley & Christina Kelley Would've Had Their Own Mon-Fri 7-12am Show? Someone Would Call, & Both Jocks Would B Getting A Request a/o Dedication Call From A Listener. They Would Go Good Together, But They Were Both Awesome, Separate Jocks, TH-cam. Shotgun Is The Only Puzzle Missing Now That He Left KRTH.
If you're referring to the "end" of the song playing at approx. :28, it's Creedence Clearwater Revival - Lookin' Out My back Door th-cam.com/video/Aae_RHRptRg/w-d-xo.html
80's at 8,90's at 9. HAAHAA!!! just kidding!.Although there were a few good songs from the 80's that were good.90's sucked though.Maybe Nirvana was good. 20's at 2(maybe with Al Joelson).40's at 4 with Glen Miller
He’s on Sirius XM 60s station now! Love it
A proud San Diegan the legendary Shotgun Tom Kelly
Shotgun Tom has some of the most brilliant timing of anyone in broadcasting!
are you kiddin', Listen to someone that actually has good timing such as his namesake Machine Gun Kelly or Jack Armstrong. Shotz is a Wolfman/Don Steele tribute jock.
@@RegisWilkins OK, so what? Both Steele and Armstrong were legends, emulating them isn't a bad thing.
Woow, I LOVE it! Play it all over again. Really appreciate how the one and only Shotgun Tom Kelly does a bit more on the radio than just calling the station name and the song. I am really afraid of the extinction of this kind of radio. A real legend! :)
Greetings from the Netherlands.
Hello Netherlands. Do you still get Radio Luxemburg? Do you have any Top 40 radio stations in the Netherlands? Most in the U.S. are gone.
I have followed radio for nearly 40 years and Shotgun is amazing. A true professional because he makes this look SO easy.
K-Earth 101 is my life. I remember always listening to this radio station when I was young.
I miss those days
Couldn't agree with you more. Sadly, there aren't the visionary programmers in a position to encourage and cultivate this type of talent any longer. At least guys of the caliber of Tom are still at it. Thank Heaven.

We all talked with your rhymes that got us through the night.
I miss the old KRTH so much. Shotgun is the best and showin ya what real radio is about.
I want to hear Charlie Van Dyke and the K EARTH 101 jingles back again!!!
I used to listen to him in San Diego @ KCBQ..

K EARTH AWW THE SOUND OF THIS STATION IS LIKE . I WANT TO LISTEN ALL OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Man I miss the old K-EARTH 101... playing the old 50-70s. Takes me back to teenage years working at the Renee’s mufflers shop back in el sereno and Lincoln heights Los Angeles CA.
Now, K-EARTH 101 FM plays songs from the 1970s, the 1980s, the 1990s and the 2000s.
I want to bring the K EARTH jingles back!!
You mean the Johnny Mann singers.
KYNO-Fresno
Yes yes me too
I remember this particular broadcast distinctly. Man, those were them days. K-earth will never be as good as it once was (especially now with the bloody 90s at 9; with Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch!)

Thanks for a great career in radio, Shotgun! K-Earth and radio won't be the same after your retirement on Friday!
One of my all-time favorite radio God!
Excellent! Superb voice from a radio legend. Thanks Shotgun.
I remember growing up hearing him on the radio

Now they call it terrestrial radio. All syndicated.

He is very good at what he does! Wow.

Interesting sounding DJ who has something to say + kick ass music = what proper radio is.
I love this guy, though I live outside USA, I always listen to his how, He rocks!
Wow ! Amazing DJ !!
I remeber this specific broadcast. I also remember first time I heard Parliament's (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker) Give Up The Funk; it was on this station, circa 2008. Oh, the glory days, how quickly they seem to vanish.
Yep, remember Shotgun Kelly growing up inLA. In 1970 I was 20!
In 1985 STK was at KFRC (S.F.). It seemed that he worked at every station worth listening to.
This guy is a trip to watch and listen to
THIS IS HOW YOU DO RADIO... Nuff said!
i love this station i liten to it on the web reminds me of the old WLS am in the 70's.
This is how it's done
The disc jockey's disc jockey. This man should write a book. A living legend and a nice guy as well.
Great walk up the ramp to the post starting at 2:10. One of the best songs to run while doing the weather -- Brandy by Looking Glass.
Yay! K-EARTH 101!! hey Shotgun, I remember you from 93 KHJ!

I will never forget the first time I heard Shotgun on KRTH. Jay Koffee who was in the evenings replaced The Real Don Steele for a period of time during the 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM time slot. I enjoyed listening to him! You better believe it! Wish he could b a close friend of the family.
KRTH at it's best!
Anthony Angelici Until the assholes fired Shotgun because he was paid too much.

Love the video and the Shure sm 5b mic.
Way to nail the post on the Grease song. I got chills just watching. ;)
I miss the old KRTH 101! Who's bright idea was it to change the format? They really fouled things up!! Thank goodness, for SiriusXM because people can still hear Shotgun Tom on 60's On 6

Was he the same "Shotgun Kelly" that was on WIFI 92 in Philadelphia in the 70's?
Does anyone know the Name of the song that start at 0:15? - Its awsome!
TheBiodinkelpizza Right Back Where We Started From
Song by Maxine Nightingale
He replaced a Legend THE REAL DON STEELE and became an even Bigger Legend in BOSS ANGELES,I miss you my Brother Shot Gun Tom Memories will linger on.
Mike Mangan
I had forgotten Don.
Thanks for reminding me.
Hey, McKenzie, how's that studio working out?
So this was the guy stressing me out by always talking over into a that I want to hear. You know, a song doesn’t just start when the words do.
I think he broke the post a few times :)
I can't listen to him online anymore due to a curfew
What a pro...BRRRRRRRRRRRAHHHHHH.......
K earth 101 is not good now because the old ones used to be 60s and 70s now it’s 80s and some 90s that is sucks

So that's what he looks like. :o
Boss radio at its best! Sadly the powers that be have stopped K Earth being received in the UK, dreadful! At least Gary Bryan Tweets me!
Steve Jobs didn't *DO* shit; hapless techs did ALL of the WORK.
