Coming from time to time to this vid. Saw them live a month ago, and it was perplexing, these guys still blast as if there's no tomorrow. Out of the stage they're very chill guys.
It's some of the most furious black metal you'll ever see as well. Saw them in Turku Saatanalle in 2017. By far the most intense live show I've seen anywhere.
I love the direction they're taking black metal with their appearance. Corpse paint and kvlt aesthetic are great and all, but I feel like this is almost more in tune with post-apocalyptic looks. Almost as if they have oil and blood smeared over their faces and arms.
Listeners, too. I don't know where it comes from that if you're watching a black metal show you gotta stand there all stoic with your arms crossed like you were listening to a fucking speech, but it reminds me of the Goth kids of south park.
@@luukeksifrozenhillbillyeur3407 People feel awkward these days for some reason... Perhaps in the wake of sensitivity they're afraid to come across as insensitive and be seen as a problem. Yes, even at Metal gigs. - People have become afraid to move, even if it's just embarrassment. - Having phone-cameras everywhere is probably a factor as well. - Something happened from say 2005 and onward and I'm still trying to figure it out. (Again, the smartphone is quite close to that point.) - I mean, I remember being at MetallicA-shows in the years 2004 and 2006, and I got caught in these waves of humans, lifted off the floor, as soon as they hit the stage. - Just 5-10 years after that, people stood around like they were minding each other's personal space, and it remained that way for years. That said, this is a recording from 8+ years ago and things have also changed again very recently. People have started to loosen up. Perhaps they were sick of not being able to let loose during the pandemic and they no longer care. - Still, there's this weird hesitation every time a concert starts, people really NEED the 2-3 support-acts to warm up. - Ironically, I've also seen crowds like the Japanese turn from super shy and polite in the past to now trying to push over the front barriers. - It is fascinating to see mass human behavior change in a span of just 15-20 years.
I used to listen to the Swedish scene religiously, but I gotta say Iceland is getting more plays on the daily. I thank Audn and Seasons of Mist for introducing me to the best black metal in the North
I started to search for an Icelandic black metal band after I watched the movie Metal Head and after a long search I found this one I was looking for. All love all the way from Cairo,Egypt ♥
Such an incredibly dark atmosphere in this music!! As soon as the vocals come in it's obvious there's true pain and emotion behind the music. Am in love!!!
after listening to them in the car, I came here to hopefully see whether or not they use Marshall amps as I thought I heard Marshall in the record, and I am glad it looks like they are
Oldest person according to MA was in his late 20s around the time of filming (the drummer). The vocalist might have been 23 at the youngest. The others were around 25?
You sure as hell can expect some quality black metal, when you don't know how to pronounce both the band's name or their songs 👍🏻 2:45 and 3:05 are my favorite parts, man just out of this world
Saw them live last weekend, their vocalist has now added a white business shirt to his outfit all spattered in red , looked like he just went postal with a machete on some cubicle dwellers. It was most glorious.
Misthyrming (th as in through), and if they use Old Norse pronunciation the stress is on the first syllable (Mis). I don’t know if they kept that in modern Icelandic.
It's not the same. "Blackface" is a very specific way of application (you know the way, this opaque oval on the face, but lips cleared, perhaps even made red, to basically ridicule black people), but clearly these guys have just blacked themselves out in an artistic kind of way. I mean, it's just randomly smeared all over and looks like they just came out of a coal-mine after a month or something. - But these days, people see a little bit too much black on some blank guy's face and it's "offensive". - It's all about intention. - So no, you're right, we're not allowed to do blackface "anymore", cause don't be a racist fk. This is not that.
3:04 one of the most beautiful things I've heard in black metal in my entire fu***ng life
Between this and Exercises in futility... we are blessed.
Mgla is other fuckin wordly, but yeah, mispyrming it's deep and great too.
Mgla way over this noisy shit. Cheers from Iceland.

Mate, that tremolo lead line starting at 1:03 is one of the best riffs, I've ever heard.

It's all corpse paint to me.
More black metal bands need to take a note from this: demonstrate a little bit of emotion and feeling connected to the music

Amazing! That part at 3:05 is sooo good. Kind of gave me a bit of Poirot main theme vibe the first few times I heard it.
Same!!
Intense, heavy, passionate, and underappreciated. This is an amazing song by an amazing band!
Static Syndrome vocalist is so, cute ;)
Static Syndrome: I absolutely agree. You found the right words. Thank you.
God damn, I'll never get tired of that opener

Icelandic Black Metal are the most Badass thing ever, their scene are killing all
Awesome track with decent footage editing but not a single clear shot of the drummer. They didn't let the camera get onstage.
after listening to them in the car, I came here to hopefully see whether or not they use Marshall amps as I thought I heard Marshall in the record, and I am glad it looks like they are
It's ridiculous how fuckin good this song is
Are these dudes like 16? Damn. They look young. Awesome video.
I thought the same! Either way, they are incredibly talented
The guitarists are in their early 20's (I guess the bassist is at a similar age)
The drummer's in his late 20's.

Sweden and Norway are getting old - Poland and Iceland are the new bearers of black metal :P
I love Black Metal but of course can't undesrtnd icelandic lyrics. There's a problem to pay attention to this band?
