- Dozens of influential senior living professionals gathered at Forest Hills of DC to be inspired by a unique project that awarded Forest Hills of DC the 2024 Public Art Initiative AARP Community Challenge Grant! They learned how a collaboration of three entities, including Art Against Ageism, Marvin Bowser Photography, and Forest Hills created a public art installation Titled “See Me, Hear Me: The Art of Living,” the exhibit features portraits of Forest Hills residents and staff captured by well-known Washington, D.C. photographer, Marvin Bowser. The portraits were turned into biodegradable prints that were wheat-pasted to the outside of the Forest Hills building, creating a large-scale mural that was illuminated, in partnership with Tenleytown Main Street, during Art All Night, a city-wide art festival, September 27th and 28th, and is now open to the public.
The companion “See Me, hear Me: The Art of Living” digital exhibit is at this link and includes stories for each resident and staff portrait which were collected throughout this summer.
