I honestly love hearing you think outloud and seeing all the prep work and decision-making that goes into your final pieces.
I know it's a naive but it's honestly a really good reminder for me that other artist prep the same way I do and that I should lean into it and not put so much emphasis on 'intuitity' (is that a word?)

Something about watching you paint with gouache reminded me of why I became an artist in the first place: the love of the creation process. Somewhere a long the way through making art for uni assignments and professionally, I had lost that love, but watching these videos really remind me that it never went away, I just needed to go back to the basics and appreciate art for what it is - a process.

This colour palette is perfect. So fitting for the piece. It has the feeling of floating through a dreamscape. The green and orange would have been really harsh for such a gentle creature in my opinion. This is visually arresting in a different way. Beautiful work!
I've also been drawing New Year pieces over the last couple of years and getting to know more about my heritage. My family live in Malaysia! but we are Chinese and I was born in the UK. I love your work so much and it's inspired me so much over the years, and now I am in the process of looking for a job in illustration!

I really like that colour palette, to me it gives its own identity from the previous years whilst still being part of it as a series. It also doesn't beholden you to the same palette every year. I am also amazed that you can find your lines again so easily after doing an ink wash over a piece, it's one of the reasons why I work in fine liner. This was such a nice video!

Always a delight and an inspiration! Your following and comments simply prove that! Love love love the bunny! I like the color choices, but maybe it would be fun to do him again in the green color concept just to see, maybe they are brothers! Anyway, I always enjoy seeing the process from study sketches, to concept, to final project. It helps remind me that ideas do take some work and time, even for the most amazing pros. Just practice, breathe, take little breaks, but never stop trying. Thank you always. And Rocket too! He always is a gem to see or hear from as well. Hope you two have a lovely time in Singapore!

This is beautiful, i’m year of the rabbit and i’ve always felt so proud and happy about that 🥰 the music mixed with the visuals was so pleasing 🤍 i think that with the cute shape of the border on the piece, it would make a great little trinket tray or a larger serving tray, just a little idea :-)
i'm pausing just before 4 minutes, 'cause i want to make sure i don't forget this thought! you're saying maybe nobody cares about all of these little decisions you're making in the rabbit design. ohhh, we care! it's so good for other artists, especially artists still in the beginning phases of their journey, to see the process behind the end results! which i'm sure you know, so i don't need to elaborate

Love this video :) and watching your process. Have you ever shared how transfer your image to your paper? I work mostly digital but I’ve been loving exploring traditional media, but transferring my pencil to my paper to paint is a challenge, I saw you first used tracing paper , then transferred that to paper but then in your final line you used colored pencil. Just wondering what that next step was. :) as always thank you for inspiring me!
Ahh have fun in Singapore!! It's been a few years since I've been back and I miss it. My standard tourist recommendation is the singapore zoo, even though it's hot af out there I always love it and I'm not even a zoo person

I feel the rabbit needs some whiskers and then maybe the eyes would not look nightmarish. You could really make it nightmarish and make the eyes red, tho! Like the bunny in MP & the Holy Grail! LOL.

I just wanna say the part where you're painting is kind of different from your editing style (i feel like usually it's more energetic with lively upbeat music u know), but i like it!! It's also good to be reminded that there's no 'style' in any form of art, i guess 😊
