Every Chinese dynasty has ended the same way, this one will be no different. China has a long history of opening up to the the rest of the world, not able to work with it and then shutting down again. The ‘great’ Wall of China, rather than being a symbol of Chinas industry and power is more a reminder of a failed foreign policy, that it will go on to repeat……China doesn’t even have an open immigration policy, and that builds elements of Han-exceptionalism into its education system, and annexes and represses alternative cultures, these are 15th century concepts, not what you would expect from a country vying to be a global leader. Ever since Vietnam opened its doors to the world and embraced economic opportunities, its GDP has skyrocketed. I used Vietnam in classrooms as an example of a country that seems to be doing everything right. Eg., the opposite of everything China is doing. It's also become a popular holiday destination too.

For the first time, China has surpassed the US with the number of “hot papers” published and cited in the world’s most influential journals, a new report has found.
China also ranked first on the international papers citation chart in six major disciplines - agricultural sciences, chemistry, computer science, engineering, materials science and mathematics. The top spot in mathematics was a new achievement compared with the previous year.
According to the Statistical Data of Chinese S&T Papers released on Wednesday by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China (ISTIC), Chinese researchers published 1,929 hot papers - papers which receive significant numbers of citations soon after publication, usually in a rapidly evolving field such as molecular biology and materials science - accounting for 46 per cent of the global total by July.
Meanwhile, US researchers produced 1,592 hot papers, taking second place. The US was followed by Britain, Germany and Australia, according to the data from ISTIC, which has been tracking papers published by Chinese researchers in domestic and overseas journals since 1987.
