This is one of Derek's best routines I've ever seen. He and Peta each have a chimera-like quality, in that they can adapt themselves perfectly to the needs and requirements to their respective partners. It's a rare joy when we get to see two such partners paired together.
Aaron Wilkins Oh, you misinterpreted my statement. When I said "one of his routines", I wasn't meaning one that he created. I was meaning this particular performance. Or haven't you noticed that one doesn't always have to mean a performance in which the choreographer dances? For example, there are plenty of professional dancers out there who don't choreograph their own routines yet these routines are still called "their" routines. Same with singers. Take any given pop song. A majority of the time, the artists don't even write their own music but it's still referred to as "their" song.
fair enough- i knew what you meant but in professional circles, to single out one dancer and say 'so-and-so's best routines' does actually imply that you believe the choreography is owned by that one person.
In case you haven't noticed, TH-cam comment sections are hardly a professional circle, haha. :) I'm rather mystified as to why you're being so pedantic with a stranger on the internet? Even by your own admission, you clearly knew what I meant. Why enter a dialogue by being confrontational? There are far better ways to make your point than by implying that someone is less intelligent than yourself. It might even surprise you to know that I was once a ballroom dancer. Nowhere near at the level of anybody on TH-cam (it was more a hobby than anything for me) but I also choreographed some routines myself. If you wished for me to clarify my statement, all you needed to do was ask what I meant. And if you wished to inform, all you needed to do was mention it like the following: "I'm not sure if you're aware, but professional dancers refer to a particular routine like the following..." Nobody likes a know-it-all. :/ Have a nice day.
Rae i think you need to chill out- at no point did i speak or sound confrontational. I merely pointed out a fact that (from the way you wrote your initial comment) i thought it would have been interesting for me to point out something you may or may not have known. As for being an ex-ballroom dancer: that's fantastic. I share wth you a choreography background. Isn't it just the most fun! I also think choreographing and stage production gives one an even higher level from which to judge others' dancing. Which is why i think Bruno and Criag (on SCD) are much more interesting and unpredictable than Len and Carrie Ann, and why there comments is often much more specific, and thus, helpful and accurate
+John Acciavatti Australian? Last time I checked, Australians spoke English. There is no "Australian" language. PETA actually has two origins: English, meaning "rock" or "stone" and Blackfoot, meaning "golden eagle." Nice try, John.
Yessssss. all the way through I kept thinking, "This is the worst camera direction ever!!" The argentine tango is all about dramatic lines and legs and they kept missing *everything*. I thought for a moment the camera director must have been having an epileptic seizure or something.
@Flareboxx, Just the worst camera work. Especially the flying camera that backs of a kilometer or more. Frankly, too much clapping. Surprised they did not throw in some "shaky" camera to make it virtually unwatchable.
крај-конец-fin-finito- .. end of story ..BesT Of Argentinian Tango i've EVER seen ! If some of you have something better to share, please don't be shy^^ .. til then ...BRAVOOO!
I love Derek but why do ballroom dancers have to over exaggerate Argentine tango all the time? And it's not Argentine tango it's just tango because it originated in Argentina. American tango is so robotic
Omg this is an unbelievable performance and Derek is so gorgeous!!! I just can't stop thinking if I were at Peta's place!!!
Peta is a stunning dancer and not heralded as much as she should be!

I am sorry but Peta choreographed this one

Both are AMAZING dancers!!!
PETA is PERFECTION in Australian. and Derek is not so bad either.
+John Acciavatti Australian? Last time I checked, Australians spoke English. There is no "Australian" language. PETA actually has two origins: English, meaning "rock" or "stone" and Blackfoot, meaning "golden eagle." Nice try, John.
OMG Fantastic love both of them!
Did anyone else keep getting pissed off when they would take the camera off the dance and show the guy playing the guitar?!?

Look for Argentinian videos. This type of dance has nothing to do with tango.
That was awesome!
The people that got it right were those that were actually watching and appreciating the dance

Nice, but kinda fast. I wish the music was just a little bit slower.
What was the song they danced to??? Please tell me I've been dying to know.
