I drove 18 wheeler for 41 years saw a few winters like this been retired for 23 years and I sit back sometimes and wonder how I survived think maybe God was riding with me most of the time
Ive been snowed in 3 times, and all 3 times were in Wyoming. Once in cheyenne (2 days at a truck stop), once in Laramie, and another time near Evanston for a day or two. Came close to getting stuck three or four times over Donners' pass and Deadmans pass near Ummatilla but always pull it through. But i80 WY is my nightmare.
More like blizzard conditions. Well for all who are planning on traveling by car this Thanksgiving, please check ALL CONDITIONS FIRST, please make sure to have plenty of water, blankets, snacks just in case youre trapped on closed highways and biways. ❤
Well I got everything with me I got First Aid Kit including Trauma Kits, Plug in Electric Kettle for hot coffee, cooler full of snacks and foods, water and soda, flash light, CB Radio, I got Satellite 🛰️📡 Phone, Road Map 2024-2025, Spare 12V Battery AGM, Lithium Ion Battery Jumper/Starter, Spare Winter/Snow Tire, and my pickup Truck is equipped with Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 Snow Tires, I got some V-Bar 2 Link Tire Chains, Shovels and I got my Springfield M1A Socom 16 .308 Rifle (Don't worry! My rifle is a California Compliant 10 rounder even though I live in Texas) and I got my Glock 10mm and my firearm permits/license and my Defense Attorney's contact phone number just in case. That's it! I'm good to go! I'm gonna be visiting my Relatives in Pennsylvania.
I remember days like these, trying to get over the Summit for holiday dinner at relatives in Laramie. Sometimes it's just crazy to try, but usually gets better the closer you get to the top.
@timsmith-l9q This is what trashes out travel through Nebraska and Wyoming extremely more than just snow. High winds. None stop high winds. I do some of my shopping in Cheyenne. I can deal with what is in the video, no problems. It's the winds. The winds cause the majority of accidents. I blizzard I can do with both eyes closed. Simple. The winds. That's a different ball game. From extremely bad gas mileage to being pushed all over the hwy non-stop. The distance between breaks. Fighting non-stop wind. Is no fun. A blizzard in the dead of night. That's just takes away the boredom. Why I make going out of this town count. The winds kill my gas mileage.
Ugh, I don't envy driving in those white out conditions for sure. I remember having to go pick up family in SLC because their plane was delayed to Jackson Airport the next day. A 5 1/2 normal condition trip took 10 hours in white out conditions the whole way. Grueling having to drive looking at post to post on the back roads home.
There was a time when people had common sense, and they just knew you cannot drive at the same speeds on snow and ice as you do in summer. But now oh I have AWD so I can. Safe following distance is again a thing of the past with people riding right on your ass assuming everything will be as it is supposed to be. Then when the unexpected happens and you are forced to slow dramatically or panic stop for some unforeseen reason, it is a multi- vehicle accident. Used to be people wanted space between their vehicle and others to keep themselves safe. Now they can't get close enough. Just remember this, if the space between your vehicle and the one in front of you remains constant, being closer will not get you there any sooner. It means you are traveling at the same speed. So why not have greater distance to keep yourself safe. And what happened to the drive beyond program? Meaning look beyond that vehicle in front of you to see what they are facing to know if they may have to slow or stop unexpectedly.
City drivers driving 75 MPH bumper to bumper can understand you can't stop on a dime on snow covered and drifted roads. All wheel drive doesn't do a thing in stopping or cornering on slick roads.
Jealous? Oh no we can't have that I'm on my way and you jump in Ole buddy and we will go out there and get right on there with them. Then you won't be Jealous no more cause om not going to have that! Pack you a Lil suitcase I'm almost there!
You know what’s crazy it’s some beautiful people that live in Wyoming but the state is so boring and empty hardly anybody knows but it’s definitely some diamonds in the rough out there
Exactly why I stay home during the holiday's !!!

Rawlins Wy. for me. I-80 is the real thing in winter.
What are needed are more forthright message boards, like "Get off the highway, genius!"

Cheyenne is a great place to live..
……Said nobody
It used to be before blue shitters from Colorado started coming
Hubby is retiring end of December we are moving to Evanston
I was surprised that I-80 was still open since I-70 is quite often closed with snowstorms like this.

This hell for uprr keep.line open with storm like this. This open range rancher tough and rough country around. Thanks ride and video.😊
Question. When did you do this video? Cheyenne is clear. I was there yesterday. I live 64 miles from Cheyenne. Also. Wyoming 411 cameras show nothing.
then this should be an old video the youtubers need to make $$$$ as you know they don't work they don't have a job like the mayority of sheeple

I was thinking the same thing. I went down i25 at 730 this morning 11-27 and it definitely didn’t look like that
Further west on I-80 out through Laramie and Rawlins; it has been snowing a bit.
Yep , Colorado is bad right now, but not Cheyenne.... We havent get that much snow until now.....

Good to see emergency vehicles out keeping the roads clear.
I just cked cheyennes wheather clear skies and 21 degrees as of 11.40 pm 11/27/24
As of right now it is only 7.33pm. Double check before posting. And you are correct.

I love Wyoming but I would avoid this part of 25. Look up the blizzard of 1949-1950.
Nope, Nope and Nope!! Insane
It's against the law to pass a snow plow by the way
This is untrue.
Not in Wyoming, you have to use caution though. You can't go flying by one but you can pass one.
Left side only
Awesome, let me hop in my EV 😂😂😂
This winter weather is terrible
To be safe get out of the road and park in safe place
Why they take the chance
I would like to know when a person thinks that a load of merchandise is more important then their life.
very jealous right now
Not me. I love the snow but I don't want to drive in it.

Some people like that.
Yeah it sucks. There's nothing here. Stay far away. It's horrible
Yep. People definitely don't want to be here. 😀 @@AccountInactive
Wy is really not a bad state. Their winters can be challinging.
I love Wyoming, I purchased a house outside of Casper
2 months ago. That house will be my safe haven for SHTF and also for my vacation spot as well.
If not for broadcast why is this doing on youtube
