This song was wrote by Jason Isabell for his wife as he battled addiction. If you listen to the lyrics with your heart you can feel the pain and hurt behind them. As a recovering drug addict I feel the pain every time I hear this song. But I also feel the pride of walking away from heroin 8 years ago and never turning back. It took me 8 years to know I'm enough.

I hadn't heard the song before, but Chance said it was a song that meant a lot to him and Sami, and it's certainly beautiful. As I understand it, the couple in the video were a real-life couple, which solved a lot of the distancing problems. The guys filmed themselves, or got family to film them, outside, but had to learn to sing the song at 1.25x speed. to get that slightly dreamy, slowed-down feel, and said it was surprisingly difficult.

I guess I was anxious for my birthday coming up on June 13th (sometimes it's on a Friday, but not this time) The video part with the actors was probably pre-recorded because he proposed to her in March and they knew they would be doing this ahead of time. I'm an old little hobbit lady, who was married for 18yrs to the wrong person, a guy who never proposed, just presented his marriage plans to my father one night and 3 days later there was a thrown together wedding, with me at 18yrs old. (no it wasn't a shotgun preggers wedding, I just sort of went through the whole thing stunned that it was happening) ... I had a sort of proposal while I was married. We were overseas and a tribal pygmy chief tried to buy me from my husband for a stalk of bananas, 3 goats and a sword... Now, I have a lovely boyfriend, long distance, who has not gotten that far yet, but the line "So girl, leave your boots by the bed We ain't leaving this room Till someone needs medical help Or the magnolias bloom" is sort of everything to me, because when we do get the chance to be together, we're like that. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get that once in a lifetime special proposal someday... and you keep your fingers crossed for me as well :)
