She was so funny, very beautiful and had the most wonderful speaking voice. As a little girl I was completely enthralled by her and it never really changed ❤️
She made me laugh, and always remembered for those fantastically funny Carry On films. So interesting to see this from the past and learn more about her, but definitely a lovely lady long missed 😘
Thanks for posting this! I'm just watching the remake as part of "Hattie" tonight so wondered if the real thing was available. Thank my lucky stars you put it up!
My father went out with her during WW2, not sure if he met her whilst she was on Red Cross work and my father was in the Civil Defence or whilst he was a stage hand at The Golders Green Hippodrome. I do know that she appeared in a play in Barnet at the beginning of the war so it could have quite easily have been there, my Dad originally signed up for Red Cross work as soon as the war started so there's another option.
Hattie was a talented woman but as I watched a documentary about her she lived with a lover and her husband in which it was very weird but at the end of the day it was their business and nobody else's but still a talented beautiful woman
The irony of this comment when the subject herself was carrying out a 5 year affair with another man. Hence her discomfort when her husband was involved and helped organise. As the saying goes...if the old days were so great they never would have changed!
She also had her ex-driver lover in the same buliding as her hubbie John at this time,so that is why she is extra nervous.....she lived with both her husband and lover in the same house...
Can't help but feel sorry for John LeMessiuer. He marry two women who enjoyed betraying his heart at every turn. W/Hattie, John Schofield and others; w/Joan: Tony Hancock and it only took a mail strike to put an end to both the affair and Hancock's life (even of his own accord) as a result.
I think we can all see like many of us here Hattie I believe suffers with anxiety . She is so sweet though and she hides it by smiling so much and not speaking she hides it to many people well but people that suffer with anxiety or depression like myself can see it from a mile off
Aye, been addicted to Carry On's for over 40+ yrs & was only a nipper when she passed on. Never been much about her since (in general)!! So grateful for this.
In the late 70s she toured with Eric Sykes and as her health problems worsened she was given a ground floor dressing room so she could avoid stairs. Eric misread this as an attempt by Hattie to get preferential treatment and he accused her of behaving unprofessionally. They fell out over it and when Hattie died her sons refused to invite Eric to her funeral as a result.
No she wasn't - you're getting confused with John Le Mesurier's second wife Joan Malin. You need to get your facts right before you start flinging accusations around.
Wrong Hatti was still with her lover as well as John her husband when this was done The relationship with Hancock was on and off until Hancock's suicide in 1968, but Malin remained married to Le Mesurier until his death.

She was beautiful and a brilliant talent.
How sad especially when her husband John Le Musierier comes on. Such a dignified man.
Awe, good ole HJ bless her.❤. RIP (Cheers for this)

She is so beautiful
she has a beautiful smile :)
Wonderful actress 👍🇬🇧
Hattie Jacques was a great star and could be identified as a matron in a hospital, which every NHS hospital had in the 1940's
Nice to see what the BBC television theatre looked like in this! It was based in Lime Grove in London. Looks a nice place!!!
Hattie Jacques Great Comic Actress. We love you 😍 ❤️

She was brilliant Hattie!
How I long for those much simpler day's sincere people thoughtful of other's unlike today.

A real peach and one of my favorites.
Hattie died inOctober 6, 1980.Eamond died on November 5, 1987
She also had her ex-driver lover in the same buliding as her hubbie John at this time,so that is why she is extra nervous.....she lived with both her husband and lover in the same house...

Great 'Gossiping' guys/gals.😕
We all thought she was lovely but she treated her husband terribly .
Strange to think her lover was in the audience. At this time her husband was relegated to the spare room so she could share her bed with her lover.
Yeah.. and after her divorce from John her lover left her for some upper class heiress.
Meanwhile John remarried and lived happily ever after.
@@lauramcquade924 well, his second wife cheated on him too, with Tony Hancock. But yes, they stayed together.
That's him
Hattie jackes was thing to happen to CARRY ON comedy movies along with KENNEATH WILLIAMS.
Why did she change her birth name?
My gawd!!! i remember this..Hattie died not long after this
balmaiden1 Alas. Too young. She was greatly missed, I am sure. What a darling & a talented one.
balmaiden1 she died 17 years later

Griselda.
Looks likeEmily Thornberry.
@balmaiden1 Well 1980 is quite long after.
Now you just look it up on Wikipedia!
Eric was not allowed at her funeral because her treatment of her. Strange world isn’t it?
Pete Owen
How do you mean exactly?

@@MatgoStyles = Yeah!?! Cheers for info & don't blame 'em tbf
i thought they were brother sister?
That was only their characters
She was sleeping with Tony Hancock at the marital home when this was filmed.......lovely lady pfff!!

Ignorant twat.

Incorrect. Hattie respected Hancock
Mark Shere she was sleeping with her driver though, so not entirely incorrect. Just a different person. It’s John le Mesurier I feel for.
this is weird
Some of this was a bit cringe.
I'm so glad she smoked 60 cigarettes a day.
Well, that's a very responsible statement
Sykes was so fake
Also profoundly deaf and registered blind.
